3. Minnesota

If this ranking came only down to top individual wide receiver, Rashod Bateman could very well top the list. Able to turn on after-burners and beat seemingly anyone downfield, Bateman’s big-play ability rivals anyone outside of Ja’Marr Chase and Devonta Smith in the entire country.

Of course, the Golden Gophers lose their other first-team All-Big Ten receiver in Tyler Johnson, and that’s not a loss to scoff at after Johnson finished seventh in Big Ten career receiving yards (and the most since 2007). Chris Autman-Bell and Demetrius Douglas figure to be next in line, but Johnson caught 20 more passes last season than Minnesota’s third through 14th receivers combined, so the jury is out.

Go Gophers!!

This is silly that they have Purdue #1.

Bateman > Rondale

I think it is fair as well. We will need our 2-5 receivers to prove themselves. Which I think they well.

Says right in the part quoted that if it was just about the #1 guy Bateman would probably top the list. We are very high internally on CAB and the other options but from a National perspective the other guys are still a bit of an unknown. Thought the writeup was pretty fair actually.

Yeah, I guess that's true now that I think about it.

such bulls*t...The Gophers will have the top receiving corp in the BIG TEN. How can you even consider Purdue?

Rondale Moore had 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman, and was on pace for just about the same before he got injured against us.

David Bell 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns as a freshman.

Rashod Bateman had 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.

CrAB had 370 yards and 5 touchdowns last year.

I wouldn't take any receiver in the Big Ten over Bateman. But to argue that Purdue doesn't have one of, if not the, best receiver duos in the conference is ridiculous.

Blah blah blah. Crab didn't have the opportunity being behind Johnson and RB. Crab didn't drop ANYTHING. There's no reason to think that he won't be better than this Bell character. I don't expect a Michigan writer to know about that (they've all been mostly out of touch). Crab's screen pass TD, weaving through blocks and defenders in the game against PSU was a thing of beauty. His toe tap TD on 4th and 13 with 46 seconds left against Fresno? Game saving throw and catch. He's done nothing but perform when called on.

I don't disagree that CrAB very well could be better than Moore or Bell. I would not be surprised in the least if he surpasses 1k yards this year as the #2 option.

But the entire point of my post was to challenge the post that was weirdly dismissive of a very good Purdue receiving duo. The Gophers have 6 receivers who have ever surpassed 1k yards in a season. Purdue has two on their active roster. Their receivers are good, full stop. That doesn't mean that ours aren't too.

CAB saved the season in Fresno last fall. The whole game was pretty surreal. I am looking forward to seeing what CAB can do this fall, and I think #82 Douglas is ready to prove the is a top guy.

If not, there are a few behind ready for their chance. Cannot wait to see #24 running everyone over again, or the next Laurence Maroney emerge. (#3).

If the Gophers do pick JD Spielman from Nebraska as hinted by 247 sports, you can throw this list away and move Minnesota to the top of Michigan's list!

#1 Receiver group
#1 Offensive Line
#2 Quarterback
#2 Running Back

I'll give OSU the QB and RB spots over Minny.
