Ranking the Head Coaches in the Big Ten (9. PJ Fleck, Minnesota)

Fair. He's 8-10 the last two years also. I think cherry picking years is kinda weak.

I say this as someone who likes PJ and has defended him on here lots of times. Regardless most rational people would agree he's a good coach and very good for the Gopher program.
It's not cherry picking, I'm just saying only using the overall record can be misleading.

A little late to the party but I'd personally put Fleck at sixth overall. Cig did an amazing job in year 1, but it's to be seen if that's the consistent level of performance the team will have under him. Moore, Riley, Rhule all still have much to prove. Fleck is an established winner in the B1G who has turned the Gophers into a consistent power, so I think he deserves to be in the top third easily.

I honestly believe most of the people on this board could have gone at least 8-4 or 9-3 at Ohio State last year as head coach. Let the super experienced, top-dollar assistants cook with the X and O stuff and lean on the best roster.

A rando probably would have taken an L in the playoffs, but against most of the Big Ten? With their advantages?
The job of the head coach in college is pretty much doing interviews and talking to the media...it seems. Ohio State has 27 assistant football coaches. Then they have 35 people on the football support staff. That's 62 people. They got 105 players and 44 managers. Once you learn everybody's name the head coach only has time to talk to the media and say hello to everybody.
Leave practice...call and text recruits. Grab something at McDonalds drive thru and watch the 10:00 news with the missus...say goodnight.https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/football/coaches/2024-25
