Raise the Barn OT: Richard Pitino's Post Game Speech After FSU Win

Well when we beat Louisville next year, that will help Richard emerge from his father's shadow.

It was a year 1 story line. We'll see much less of it moving forward. But when SR is at a game he'll get coverage as is his due as one of the best coaches in the game and a recent national champ

nvm

No problem with Rick showing up & supporting his kid. Wouldn't mind a lot less theatrics so the spotlight can shine more on his kid. How about trying to lay low, maybe something more along the lines of Austin Hollins' dad, also a former coach?

Just a preference.

Just about everything I've ever heard or read from Lionel in regards to Austin and college basketball has made him look like a complete ****** and unsupportive father. I realize GopherJake already mentioned this.

I saw Lionel at three games at Williams this year which means that he was probably there for more. There was a shot of him in the stands at MSG during the NIT. I suspect that he was quite supportive of the person to whom it matters the most.

You're not alone. The father & son thing was cute for awhile this season, but it's time for the media and everyone else to turn the page. It's time to let Richard sink or swim on his own without referencing his famous father at every turn. Elder Pitino needs to let that happen, too. When you have a child, give them wings, set them free, and let them fly, right?

I really can't believe this. We have a high-potential coach with a hall-of-fame dad, and people are complaining about too much exposure. I guess Minnesota fans will complain about everything. Maybe we should limit our number of wins next year so we don't over expose the program. [end sarcasm]

Quote for truth.

It's a good thing for the program.

Family relationships are different

It's his dad. It would be dumb to ask him not to come to games if he wants to be there, just because he is famous. I think some of you guys are missing that these are two basketball junkies. They love basketball. They talk on the phone every day.
Just embrace it. They seem pretty comfortable with the whole thing. Let them decide. It's a good thing. Richard was there for dad last year. Dad was there for Richard this year, and they both won national championships. Appreciate it.

You know, I don't remember people complaining that Don Monson hung around the program so much when Dan was coach - and he was around a lot. He even attended the postseason banquets. I suspect we're hearing from people who never liked Rick Pitino very much and wishes he'd go away just because.

+1

Some very good points about Richard and Rick. Read them all and taken notice of the assets.
