Wisconsin quarterback James Morgan was on the campus of The Ohio State University on Sunday for the Nike Elite 11 event, the final regional of the year. Morgan, a three-star in the 247Sports Composite ratings for the class of 2015, is a product of Green Bay's Ashwaubenon High School.

This is the QB out there I would like to see recruited the most.

He is only a 3 star now? He use to be a top 10 QB and consensus tops 300.

I think this kid ends up being our class of 2015 QB and I'd be very happy with that.

He's camping at Minnesota on the 8th, I wouldn't be surprised if he got an offer.

As I stated in another thread - I LOVE this kid. He is going to be big time.

Morgan will be at our camp on Sunday, and is scheduled to be at Wisky's the following week. Wisky already has a QB commit for the 2015 class and a lot of QBs on their roster. Provided he earns an offer at our camp, does he commit right away because Wisconsin already has a QB commit? If he goes to Wisconsin's camp, do they offer despite already having a QB committed just to keep him away from us? Should be an interesting few weeks for Morgan, and chances are he is committed to one school within the next 2-3 weeks.

There's been a run of 247 Crystal Ball predictions for Morgan to the Gophers the past few days, including the Wisconsin insider and a few national writers. Can't argue with a commit from a QB ranked as highly as he is, but it doesn't seem like Kill's offense is designed for a pro-style QB.

Looks like an Ohio St blogger updated his prediction around when Morgan competed in the regional Elite 11 in Columbus. I'm guessing that other folks are piggybacking off of that, but who knows

I'm an Ashwaubenon alum. I'll need to look into this kid and then head home and talk to him.

Morgan isn't the athlete that McKinzy and Streveler are but he's not a stiff back there. It looks like he moves pretty well when he needs to. I don't see why he can't put on some pounds and be a similar runner to Leidner. Remember, Leidner was a pocket passer before he spent a year and half in our S+C program, and now he's a pretty good runner. What I like is that he looks like a MUCH better passing prospect than McKinzy and Streveler. If the staff wants to sacrifice some athleticism for more polished QB's, I'm on board 100%.

Could it be that James Morgan is the guy Ryan Burns can't admit to?

Well he doesn't have an offer so...

Well I've found the recruiting sites to not always be so accurate on offers. Generally they are right, but they don't know everything. Anyway, I don't know anything and was just throwing it out there...

True but there was also an interview with him posted a couple of days ago where he listed his offers and didn't include the Gophers. I suppose it's possible that it's all being kept hush hush but I doubt it. I'm sorry if I came off dickish, I wasn't trying to be. My best guesses for the SV are Schmidt, Kelly and Femi-Cole.

Morgan said directly in an interview that he was coming to our camp in hopes of earning an offer.

Kelly is raving about us in interviews, but I don't think it's him. Best guess is Femi-Cole, who said he will be here again on July 20 for the team barbecue.

That would be sweet.

Is the camp just one day? He still hasn't gotten an offer yet while a 2016 kid did on his camp performance. We have already watched him throw at his HS and he has camped here plus he has plenty of good film and has performed well at the Elite 11. What more do we need to see? I will be disappointed if we don't offer shortly and even though he may not be a prototypical DT QB like Streveler or Mckinzey that Kill likes he is still similar to a guy like Leidner out of HS yet superior. I hope we don't slow play him too much or he may lose interest.

Questions about his mobility seems to be the hold up. I'm like you and would like them to offer, I'd be fine sacrificing some athleticism at the QB position for a more polished passer. At the same time, I didn't get an in-person close up look at him, so I still trust the staff on this one.

They seem to have a mindset of running ability>throwing ability. I don't agree with it, and I know you guys don't. He looks serviceable enough as a scrambler. Maybe not a load like Leidner, but even Leidner was shook up several times last season.

For better or worse running the QB is kill/limegrover's calling card and it remains to be seen if it can work in the Big Ten. QB health is my main concern.

Maybe they feel like Jacque=James and are holding out for their ideal DT guy.

I hope they change course a little bit and give this kid a chance. This team obviously needs a better passing attack and the jury is out on Leidner, although I feel he has the ability.

It has worked fine for Braxton Miller, Taylor Martinez, Cain Colter, Denard Robinson, Terrelle Pryor etc. I do like dual threat guys and prefer them to pocket passers and Morgan isn't one yet at least but I want him simply because he seems to be the best QB dual threat or pocket passer that we have had a realistic shot at in a while.

You're right, none of those guys missed substantial playing time due to injury...

Pryor was a terrible qb during most of his time there. He had a good team around him though. He was an amazing running threat. Ohio state was embarrassed by USC during his years there.

Running QBs works in CFB. Nothing special about the B1G that would prevent it from being successful there. Can every team succeed with it - no more than every team could succeed without it.

Maybe the coaches just aren't as impressed as you. If they have seen all this and choose not to offer than I will trust them. They may be wrong, but likely have their reasons.

It can work but it is courting disaster to run the QB as much as we do. Besides outright missing games, the wear and tear, seeing little birdies/aches and pains can affect their game season-long. Players usually aren't the same unless they can rest and rehab/recondition 4-8 weeks after an injury (or longer). It's just the way it is in most cases.

I'm not saying go to a USC style passing attack. I'm saying a guy like Morgan that can (purportedly) pass and then run when necessary would be a nice change.

Pryor was a terrible qb during most of his time there.

People keep saying this even though it has no basis in fact.

Pryor's career stats at OSU: 60.9% completion, 7.9 YPA, 57:26 TD:INT, 144.6 rating

"Terrible"

The thing is though what do they not see in him that they did see in Mitch. Both about 6-4 215 pounds going into their senior year yet Morgan is a superior passer. Since he hasn't gotten an offer now i wouldn't think he will till at least midseason of his senior season, maybe never and by then another team will have probably picked him up.
