QB Jackson Kollock will enter the portal.

Maybe....but tough to say without knowing all the details. He can still sign somewhere so could be holding out for a power 4 offer before dropping down to some lower level school if he doesn't get what he is looking for.

Maybe he decides to wait till spring ball is complete and see if some team ends up in the QB market that isn't there now.
I mean...that would be beyond risky. The chances a P4 team will pluck him to start because of injury is low. The dude has almost no experience. If that is his hope he should have stayed here.

Not saying you are wrong but that is bad logic on his partbif that is what he is doing. I gotta think there are guys with actual starts under their belts that would be around.

There’s zero chance this staff is saying anything negative about Kollock or any other transfer.
I think @BigGopher69 was suggesting they would be saying positive things about him, not negative. In other words, "hey, give this Kollock guy a look".

Not sure why multiple people thought he meant negative things.

I'll admit I am surprised. I thought he would land somewhere for sure, and somewhere halfway decent too.
Will be interesting to see what happens with him. I also find it hard to believe he can't find any takers which still brings me back to the thought that he is holding onto the hope of landing at a bigger school.

Maybe he just isn't willing to take a step down in class yet. He is in the portal so he can sign at any time and be eligible for 2026. Looking at the portal he is currently among the highest ranked QBs that are still available. So if a team goes portal shopping for a QB after spring ball he will be one of the best available options.

My other question would be where is he enrolled in school and how do you stay eligible? Maybe that doesn't matter anymore who knows...

Missing Spring Ball is obviously not ideal but he’s probably getting close to missing the spring semester at every option.

Seems like it’s time to get over his pride and find somewhere that he can put something on film. Maybe even JUCO especially if that time doesn’t count against his D1 eligibility.

You think they’d try to help him after he wants to leave? My guess is the staff was quiet and there isn’t enough footage on him. Or his asking price was too high

Edit- fat fingers
Yes if he is genuinely a nice kid and wants to start the staff would help and reach out to coaches they know. This happens all the time in college and the Pros for cut players.

Why? Speaking about something as subjective as a former employee/contractors attitude to a prospective employer sounds like a good way to get named in a lawsuit.
I think the world of football coaches, like many industries, is pretty small. If someone calls you and asks you your personal opinion of someone, you want to be honest. It's not about sticking it to this kid, but it's so that people will trust your word when you say "you should give this kid a try, it's a numbers game here, but he is talented and will work hard for you". If you're not honest about the negative, no one is going to believe you when you're trying to help a player.

As far as opening up to litigation, if you do it in a dumb way, sure. But you're allowed to just "no, I am not going give a recommendation", the absence of you vouching for someone kind of tells the story.

That’s also not saying something negative which is what I was saying to start. They aren’t going to say anything negative about a kid leaving.

There’s a million other ways to convey the point if that’s truly the case.

Refusing to say anything is enough to get the point across without being negative.

Doubt this would happen, but we could potentially take him back in a year and it would be like an extra free redshirt. I could see this being an effective strategy.

I have no idea if this rule still applies, but the clock used to run from your first year.

Remember back in the old days when eligibility made sense.....I miss those days :)

Kid committed, had 5 years to play 4, sometimes got an extra year due to a medical redshirt....simpler times.....

I guess I am not sure why people thought he would end up in a decent position...its not like we are Ohio State if you cant even be likely the #2 here that tells me he should be going down a level if not more.

I get he was a stud in HS but all of these guys were and it appears these days experience trumps potential. He needs snaps and that isn't likely at this level.
