QB Controversy

I'm of the opinion that you play for the future now. Start Max. It would be nice in a few years to have him as a seasoned starter/veteran. He'll take his lumps this year (even though I have been impressed with him) - but it's not like we are bowl bound.

Gray doesn't seem to have confidence in his own passing ability. Twice tonight, it looked like he saw the open receiver, but tucked it away. Granted he was under pressure, but there appeared to be enough time if he was decisive about it. He's also throwing without rhythm, which makes the ball harder to catch. That looked to be the case with 2 of the drops on the last drive (Moulton down the middle and can't remember who dropped the other).

Agree to disagree. I think many on this board vastly overrated Gray's ability at WR. Watch the games from last year. He is a poor
route runner and racked up a majority of his numbers in garbage time. He an McKnight are above average when it comes to fade
patterns and jump balls, but neither is a even close to a marginal route runner.

DID ANY OF YOU READ THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

At this point, it's clear we DO have a QB controversy, and this from a Gray supporter. It's clear opposing teams are coaching to challenge him to pass, and it's working for them.

Thanks Zam, but apparently nobody did. Nobody on here wants facts to actually enter into the discussion...

2009 Bench Weber, Play Gray
2011 Bench Gray, Play Shortell
2013 Bench Shortell, Play Insertnamehere

Three questions:

1. If Gray and Shortell were both 1st year freshman, who would you want to play?

2. If Shortell were a 1st year frosh last year(and there was no Gray), would he have played more qb than Gray did?

3. Are there less people wondering why Brewster stayed with Weber last year?

I think the quarterback situation is a one year deal. The starting quarterback that fits Coach Kills system and will be playing next year is still a senior in high school.

Two year deal. I think he has to red-shirt both guys next year. Shortell is good enough to be the guy for the next 1-3 years. We won't know until the OL improves.
