Rashad Vaughn, a 6-foot-5 junior guard from Robbinsdale Cooper, is a prized in-state recruit for the Minnesota Gophers. Vaughn tweeted that he will cut his list later this week. GopherHole.com recently caught up with Vaughn to learn the latest on his recruitment.
Gopher Hole: What is the latest with the recruitment? Have you picked up any new offers?
Rashad Vaughn: No, I am still hearing from the same people.
Gopher Hole: I know that you were at the Gopher football game a few weeks ago. Have you had a chance to do anything else?
Rashad Vaughn: No, that was it.
Gopher Hole: You were at Minnesota Gopher Midnight Madness. What was that like?
Rashad Vaughn: It was fun to see the Dunk Contest and all that stuff.
Gopher Hole: Have you made any plans to go to any college games in the next few weeks?
Rashad Vaughn: I haven’t made any plans, but I will try to go out to some.
Gopher Hole: Your football team lost in the playoffs, but that means that you will get a chance to work together before practice starts. What are the expectations for the upcoming season?
Rashad Vaughn: Really just to come out, win and go to state. That is it. Nothing more, nothing less. That is what we are trying to do.
Gopher Hole: I know that standout football player Billy Kellogg and a few other of your basketball players play football. Have you had a chance to do much open gym-wise?
Rashad Vaughn: We are going to talk to them about getting to open gym as soon as possible and as much as possible. Hopefully, we can get them right, so that they are ready to go.
Gopher Hole: ESPN now has you ranked # 10 in the country in the Class of 2014. That has to make you feel pretty good.
Rashad Vaughn: Yes. It made me feel pretty good. All the hard work paid off, but I still have a lot of work to do.
Gopher Hole: You been done to Midnight Masdness. What are you continuing to hear from Coach Tubby Smith and assistant Vince Taylor?
Rashad Vaughn: Same thing. Good program for me. Tubby is a good coach. They are saying the same thing.
Gopher Hole: A lot of local fans would love to see you stay here. Will how well they do this year have an impact on your thoughts?
Rashad Vaughn: It might have a little impact, but not a lot of impact. I hope that they have a good season.
