Kevin Dorsey, a 6-foot, 160-pound junior point guard from Fairfax (VA) Paul VI in the Class of 2015. Dorsey has seen his recruitment take off and currently holds offers from Minnesota, Creighton, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, VCU and others.

Dorsey helped lead Team Takeover to a 3-2 mark in Eagan as they finished 9-7 overall to advance to the Peach Jam. He averaged just 7.0 points per game this past weekend after scoring 15 points going into the final EYBL event. Dorsey shot 51.9% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range and 73% from the free throw line during his 16 EYBL contests.

Gopher Hole.com caught up with Dorsey to learn the latest on his recruitment and summer plans.

Gopher Hole: How pleased are you with how well you have been playing so far this spring?

Kevin Dorsey: Things have been going pretty well. I think that we can really, really pick things up on defense, because that is where most of our losses came from, not playing defense and communicating. This is a good first win, We played tough and pulled it out. Marcus hit a big shot, so it was a good win. We just have to keep grinding and keep working.

Gopher Hole: Your AAU teammate and high school teammate Marcus Derrickson (a Georgetown commit) hit the game-winning shot. You have several teammates from Paul VI on your AAU team. How much do you think that helps you in terms of team chemistry knowing each other and knowing where everyone is going to be on the court?

Kevin Dorsey: It helps a lot. That last play was two Paul VI guys, communicating and getting the ball to each other. Like I said, Marcus hit a big shot. We are really grateful to him for that, but we have to keep working and keep our minds focused for the next one.

Gopher Hole: What is the latest on your college recruitment right now?

Kevin Dorsey: My latest two offers are from Nebraska and Minnesota.

Gopher Hole: What are you hearing from the Gophers?

Kevin Dorsey: Coach Pitino and Coach Young, they have been hitting me a lot. They are showing a lot of interest and they are showing a lot of love, so I really like that.

Gopher Hole: Is this your first trip to Minnesota?

Kevin Dorsey: Yes, sir.

Gopher Hole: How many offers are you up to right now?

Kevin Dorsey: Ten. (Creighton, Florida Gulf Coast, Massachusetts, SMU, VCU, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have also offered)

Gopher Hole: What others schools are you hearing from besides the schools that have offered you?

Kevin Dorsey: West Virginia, Memphis, St. Joe's. Those are pretty much the biggest three right now.

Gopher Hole: What do you know about the Gophers? Did you get a chance to see much of them this year?

Kevin Dorsey: A little bit. I know that they won the N.I.T. They play my style of basketball. They play fast. Fast paced. They let their guards go. They use the screen and roll, so I like that.

Gopher Hole: What do you see as your strengths as a basketball player?

Kevin Dorsey: Defense is number one. Pushing the ball. Attacking at all times. Pulling up when I need to. I can extend out some people. My main thing is just defense. If I don't play defense, I can't go anywhere.

Gopher Hole: I know that you pride yourself on being a distributor, but you are also the leading scorer for Team Takeover. Is that some you also take pride in that not only can you create for your teammates, but when they need you to score, you can also make the big basket?

Kevin Dorsey: I mean, it is what I do right now. I just play with the flow of the game. I let the game come to me. If I have to score one game and I score zero the next game, I'm fine with it as long as we get the win.

Gopher Hole: Do you come from a basketball family?

Kevin Dorsey: I am an only child, but my dad loves basketball with a passion, so I got it from him.

Gopher Hole: When you finally pick a school, what are going to be the main factors that make you pick School A over School B or C?

Kevin Dorsey: Just a loving environment and people that want to help me get to the next level and make me better in life and as an adult.

Gopher Hole: Did you get a chance to go to many college games this past year?

Kevin Dorsey: VCU and West Virginia.

Gopher Hole: Have you visited many campuses besides those two?

Kevin Dorsey: No, sir. I'll probably get most of my visits out of the way in June.

Gopher Hole: What school do you definitely want to visit?

Kevin Dorsey: Right now, Minnesota, Nebraska, VCU and Virginia Tech. Those are pretty much the top ones right now.

Gopher Hole: Are you going to try to visit Minnesota while you are in town?

Kevin Dorsey: I think that I am going to wait and get them all out of the way in June. We haven't set anything up yet.

Gopher Hole: Have you thought about when you are going to try to decide on a school? Would you sign in the fall?

Kevin Dorsey: I'll probably wait until the coaches come out again and try to weigh my decisions out after that.

Gopher Hole: Are you playing in any individual or college camps this summer?

Kevin Dorsey: I'm not sure. I know that I am going to Pangos (All-American camp in California).

Gopher Hole: Have you thought about a possible college major?

Kevin Dorsey: Something that has to do with business.

Sounds a lot like Math, plays very similar to him as well per this highlight reel. A "full tilt" PG.

Is this little Dre brother? lol plays just like him... I hope he sees his success. We need this kid!

Let's lock this kid up when he visits. It seems like his stock is rising, and it's never bad to have a good point guard locked up early in the summer. Other recruits will take notice, especially because he seems to be a pure point guard not a scoring guard. Maybe Whitt will commit to Minnesota so we can run Dorsey & Whitt in the backcourt. Dorsey & Whitney should donate to the program if that happens. They have money. :)

Haha I like it...we might need to start thinking outside the box to get this practice facility built!
