Anthony Anderson, a senior running back from Eden Prairie (MN) High, helped lead the Eagles to three straight state titles and a number one ranking this year. He was also a standout basketball player who helped lead Eden Prairie to the state tournament last season.
Anderson attended two Minnesota Gopher games this year and talked with Gopher Hole about his senior season and the latest on his recruitment.
Gopher Hole: A great win. How does this compare to last year and the year before?
Anthony Anderson: I feel that we are more of a family than we were last year and I feel that, me personally, played a bigger contribution towards the team. I just did whatever it takes to get my team this "W.
Gopher Hole: You had some big carries in the championship game, carry some defenders with you. Is that something that you take pride in not going down after getting hit by the first guy? You want to drag as many guys as you can.
Anthony Anderson: I take a lot of pride in that because my mindset is to not go down by any arm tackles or just one defender. I have got to make them miss and I have got to make them pay.
Gopher Hole: What is the latest on your recruitment right now? Where does that stand right now?
Anthony Anderson: Right now, Minnesota, Northern Iowa, NDSU, Iowa and Wisconsin. I am just still taking in a lot of schools. I am not leaning towards anything or choosing anywhere.
Gopher Hole: Any offers yet?
Anthony Anderson: Not at the moment.
Gopher Hole: Are you kind of surprised by that in a way?
Anthony Anderson: A little bit, but it all goes back to academics. I have to do my part in school and good things will happen to me soon.
Gopher Hole: What do you have to do academically to make sure that you are eligible?
Anthony Anderson: Better much just get a higher score on the ACT. I had an 18 the first time, so I am taking all the ACT prep classes and do wing whatever it takes to get to the next level.
Gopher Hole: I have seen you at past Gopher games. How many games were you able to make?
Anthony Anderson: I have been to two.
Gopher Hole: Any other college games that you have been to?
Anthony Anderson: NDSU and Northern Iowa.
Gopher Hole: What are you hearing from the Gophers right now?
Anthony Anderson: They are just telling me to keep working hard. I expect to hear from them soon. We are going to go back and visit a little bit more and talk to the coaches.
