Whenever there is a coaching change, there is often roster transition as well. That proved true earlier today when Gophers signee Alvin Ellis from Chicago was released from his Letter of Intent and announced via Twitter that he will reopen his recruitment. Minnesota’s other in-coming recruit, Alex Foster, told GopherHole’s Nadine Babu that he’s still committed to Minnesota and wants to get to know new coach Richard Pitino.

GH: What are your thoughts about the Gophers hiring of Richard Pitino?
AF: I really don't know much about him. I really don't have any thoughts yet, until I get to talk to him.

GH: Has he reached out to you yet?
AF: No.

GH: Did you go online and Google him and if so, what have you learned about him?
AF: I only know that he was the coach under Billy Donovan, and he's been a HC only one year. He has Rick Pitino's name, and his Dad works miracles.

GH: Are you still committed to Minnesota?
AF: Yes. Right now me and my coaches talked about it, we don't know what we're going to do. We're waiting until we get to know the new coach.

GH: Earlier today it came out that Alvin Ellis got out of his letter of intent – have you spoken with him?
AF: No, I haven't. We went to school together for 3 years, but I haven't talked him.

GH: Did you ever think about de-committing during this process?
AF: I feel like anybody deserves a chance, I don't know much about him, I'm not going to up and leave without knowing about him.

GH: Do you think Alvin will still consider Minnesota now that he knows who the coach is?
AF: I'm not sure, honestly.

GH: Through the process over the past two weeks, did anyone at the U reach out to you to let you know what was going on?
AF: I talked to Austin Hollins and Andre Hollins, I wanted to know what their thoughts on the new coach was, and they didn't really know either.

GH: What advice did they give you?
AF: I was always saying I was going to wait and see what happens, and they gave me the same advice.

GH: When do you plan on coming to campus?
AF: I'm supposed to come in June, for summer workouts and class.

GH: What are your expectations on playing time next year?
AF: Hopefully get in there as a freshman, earn some playing time and be able to contribute some minutes.

GH: Having watched some of the games this year, how do you think you’ll fit in with the team?
AF: I think I fit in good. They are losing some key starters, seniors, and they played mostly my position, like Mbakwe, and Rodney, that gives me the opportunity to step in and produce.

GH: For those who haven't seen you play, how would you describe your game?
AF: I'm an active Big, I'm not one to stay under the basket because I can handle the ball. You can call me a hybrid 3/4 man.

This morning Sid said; they've already lost one recruit and they're going to lose another.

Sid is still grumpy about Tubby being fired. Nothing new.

Yea, Sid was very cranky this morning about the new hire.

I have to imagine guys like Foster, Buggs, etc. will be quite happy with the style of play Pitino intends to bring in.

Go Gophers!!

Can't wait for this press conference.

Sid will ask about the big 3 and will probably make a smart ass comment about Richard's dad in some way.

The press con could be 'can't miss tv'. Anyone know if the banks and government offices will be closing?
