Purdue TE Drew Biber commits to Gophers

Seems he believes in a God who directs him in his life. Nothing wrong with faith in something greater than self.

The QB from Georgia Tech gave a Bible reference from Hebrews 11:1 about faith.

Fleck talks about improving the physical, mental, and spiritual side of life. It doesn't surprise me that Fleck is attracting these players. Isn't Fleck a Roman Catholic?
Fleck is from Illinois, not Rome.

Why bother with just 1 year of eligibility
What?

Gibbens, Filiaga, Jones, Major, Robinson, Brosmer all say hello.

All 1 year guys who were starters or important role players. Don't forget other guys who provide depth so the youngsters can develop. How many times as PJ reinforced this is a developmental program.

Ah yes, so edgy of you to mock someone of their faith. You are truly courageous and brave for that. Scripture is right at your fingertips all you have to do is read it, or don’t. God gives everyone free choice, but he (God) wants a relationship with you
It’s just a snarky message board comment, it’s not that serious.

went looking for more info.

apparently Biber was a good basketball player in HS. from his HS football stats, looked like he played WR. 68 catches for 1,124 yds and 13 TD as a Junior.

must have bulked up a lot after entering college. saw him listed at 215 lbs on his HS recruiting profile.

has a degree in financial management and is working on his MBA.

I know it is early in the portal season but at this point we have two commits, neither of which may be a big help next year. A back up QB and a non-receiving TE. Should I be concerned?

Blocking TEs. Say hello to Kieft, Kallerup, etc in our offense. They're important

All I know is that God definitely didn't like all those teams Alabama faced under him, and somehow God kept picking the team with the most money and highest ranked recruits, year after year, in spite of any other considerations.
Lets leave God out, since most of you using His Name don't know Him or care to find out.

Did God make Purdue lose all those games and fire the coach? Does Ryan Walters not have the favor of God? (he cites the coaching change for why he entered portal)
I always found it puzzling how some players believe God has favored them and punished other believers because……..?

The disciples died horrible deaths, all they had to do was say God and Jesus were not real and they would be spared, they couldn’t do that, because they knew who Jesus and god were.

Who says they were punished? You? Maybe in his eyes they were serving his purpose and when they leave this world they will be welcomed in all of heaven for never waiving in faith.

Read scripture and seek out answers to learn more if you’re curious instead of just being skeptical

None-receiving TE? He caught 13 passes last season which was 2x's as many as Kallerup and WR Driver.....would've ranked 7th on the Gophers. Add in his blocking ability and this is a good pickup.

so, on the current roster - which certainly can change during portal season - the Gophers have 9 TE's listed - and only Kallerup is out of eligibility.

reading the tea leaves - this would suggest that the coaches felt they needed a better alternative at the 'Blocking TE' position.

OR - the coaches think/know that some of the current TE's will not be on the roster next season.

on the "God" question:

… What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin' to make his way home?
"Reading the tea leaves!" Now you've done it, getting the dark mystic arts involved! 😏

Rain and sun fall on the good and bad. Just sayin.

That's not what most people believe.

Most Christians believe God favors all of us but they are taking the time to appreciate that favor. It's why devout players often join the prayer at the end of the game as well. Whether or not you're religious, we all have things to be grateful for it's just more abundantly clear when things are going well for you.

Don't discount the fact that freshmen tight ends that work hard, in the weight room, sometime end up as offensive tackles in their junior and senior years

Not only is it early in the portal season it is also just the first portal season as well. There will be another flurry of movement in the spring.

Nothing at all to get concerned about at this point. We haven't had any major loses to date and have found a QB to provide depth and push our other guys. Add to that a blocking TE (an extremely important position) and we are off to a solid start.

Not even a little bit.

Does it really matter as long as they are good teammates, good people and help the team win.
I guarantee the Gophers currently have a combination of Christians, non-Christians and those somewhere in between.

And Satanists. We've definitely got at least a few Satanists.

it's early and PJ is improving the roster. You should not be concerned.
