In my tenure as a season ticket holder, the Gophers have ended the regular season as a ranked team: 1999, 2003, 2014 and 2019.

Here are the post-regular season rankings, the bowl results and the post-bowl rankings:

1999
Pre-bowl AP#12
Lost to unranked Oregon 20-24
Post-bowl AP#18 (Oregon moved up to AP#19)

2003
Pre-bowl AP#24
Beat unranked Oregon 31-30
Post-bowl AP#20

2014
Pre-bowl AP-RV (#26) CFP#25
Lost to AP#16 Mizzou 17-33
Post-bowl unranked (AP-RV#34) (Mizzou moved up to AP#14)

2019
Pre-bowl AP#16 CFP#18
Playing AP#9 CFP#12
result???

I'm not saying that any of this has any bearing on 2019 (I agree with Coach Fleck that we need to "let it go" with regards to the past), I am just posting this for discussion in the intervening time until the bowl.

My guess, although I've done zero analysis or bowl matchup comparison, etc:

Win = AP #13
Loss = AP #20

I think it depends on degree of victory or loss.
My completely gut-feel guess is:
convincing win= AP#10 close/lucky win= AP#14
bad loss = AP#22 close/unlucky loss=AP#18
