Looking through 247, it was pretty interesting to see how this class compared to previous classes. This is turning out to be the best class since they hyped 2008 class of Marquis Gray, which was rated in 26th in the nation. (as long as they all sign) I also saw two things that stood out -

1) Many of our biggest names were rated pretty low, and did well including playing in the NFL
2) Many of our highest ranked recruits either never played, or transferred.

2004 (55th ranked, 10th B1G)

• Highest rated – Nhemie Theodore, 3 stars (.83 score)
• Notable name - Gary Russell, 2 stars

2005 (55th ranked, 11th B1G)
• Highest rated – Alex Daniels, 4 stars (.91 score)
• Notable names:
o Marcus Sherels – NO stars
o Eric Decker, 2 stars
o Nate Triplett, 3 stars

2006 (62nd ranked, 12th B1G)
• Highest rated – Jamar Howard, 3 stars (.85 score)
• Notable name - Adam Weber, 3 stars

2007 (54th ranked, 11th B1G)
• Highest rated – Andre Tate, 3 stars (.86 score)
• Notable name – Ryan Orton, Guard from EP, 3 star

2008 (26th ranked, 5th B1G)
• Highest rated – MarQues Gray, 4 stars (.91 score)

2010 (60th ranked, 10th B1G)

well always want to be trending up it'll be interesting to see how the 2017 class stacks up to 2016

great info from the gopher 24/7 site. thanks for sharing. kyle goblirsch and the rest of the crew over at minnesota 24/7 do a really good job in their analysis and reporting on gopher football.

I wonder if the JUCO players Calhoun, Jackson and Battle get re-rated. I try not to get caught up in the star watching aspect, but 5.4 Rival ratings for those guys seems questionable from this layman's viewpoint (not to mention Garrison Wright being unrated). Regardless, I feel pretty dang good about this class (one regret is losing Tralund Webber).

I remember when Rivals did their enrolled rankings (not sure if they still do these, thought they were a better gauge of how well a team actually recruited), the vaunted 2008 class dropped from #17 to #36. A nice class, but not the stellar signing that it is often made out to be.

2008 Enrolled Ranking

Rivals does a pretty poor job of evaluating JUCO and Prep School players 247 is better.
