Hopfully not a lot of players transfer, but who will be the people that will leave.

Carter?
Hageman?
Kirkwood?
alipitate?
parrish?
Manuel?

Ease up, new poster...and it is a legitimate ? (And certainly not a stupid post stupid).

Think about the way this board has come around since last Sunday when Kill was hired. Any reason to think the reaction of the players is not going to be very similar. I can't imagine we are going to see many of these players up and leave the program. If they do and their reason is the coaching staff; good riddance you aren't needed anyway.

Why single these players out unless you know something?

Why these players? Kill's offense doesn't need a mobile QB like Parrish? He stated he wants lockdown corners, so wouldn't Carter see himself as such? Kirkwood should be the last kid that would want to leave. He should be licking his chops for spring ball.
Manuel is a freshman who received playing time this season and two senior safeties are graduating this year.

Great choices.

Carter saw his production and playing time decrease. Hageman was moved around and still didn't play much (yes, freshman -- I know). Both found themselves suspended at the end of the year. Alipate will be a sophomore and just heard his new coach say he likes a QB who is very similar to the guy who is ahead of him -- who will be here for two more years.

Does that mean they're transferring or even thinking about it? No. But to jump on the guy for asking about these guys is foolish. There have been lot more stupid, speculative posts that have received more serious attention than this.

Seems to me that Kill's defensive philosophy of pressure and bump and run corners would be exactly what Carter and manuel will like...carter is much better at bump than zone and any free safety will tell you they love a pressure defense cuz they get to pressure the line, hit people and slam receivers over the top.

Alipate is a gopher for gods sakes...this is his dream school...he aint going anywhere. Hageman might not academically qualify to stay...beyond that who knows.

KGM's dad just took a job at Colorado...but that was covered in another thread.

Beyond that...any player that has used a red shirt...transferring blows a year of eligibility...so I don't think so unless they go down a level...so not too likely...and any of our RSFr that transfer...well, thats what might happen...can't do nothing about it.

Want To WIN NOW! Buying into Coach Kill's agenda 100 percent

This was a comment on the GopherSports.com story about the addition of Claeys and Limegrover. Let's hope most of the players have this perspective.

Though the possibility of player transfer is always there, especially with a new coach, there is no reason to believe any of the above players are considering it at this time or any other players. It appears this is a topic based solely on speculation. From what I understand, no player has emerged from the meeting with Coach Kill stating they are thinking of transferring.

Why would anyone consider a transfer until they see how the new coaching staff works out and how it will impact them?

I don't look for many transfers from kids that can make it. Kill develops winners. Always has. Kids can sense that. They crave it.

It sounds like the leaders of the team are behind Kill. That bodes well. I'm sure some will transfer, but attrition should be lower than the norm. We'll find out in the next month or two.

On what do you base that statement other than your kool-aid hopes? I would argue that it is unfair to assume that success at NIU and SIU will translate to anything here. It certainly may, but you make it sound like a done deal. Kids may be disillusioned, mad at the AD that Brew got a raw deal, may be homesick and miss their fat little girlfriends. Who knows, but coaching changes almost always lead to a higher number of transfers than normal. Although we had a higher number unfer Brew every single year as kids realized the ship was sinking. So maybe it will just feel like a normal year...

No players will transfer due to Brewster's firing or Kill's hiring. Any that do will transfer due to academics. Top 5 dumb thread from this week.

To answer the question, I really don't think the hiring of Kill will have anything to do with any of our departures. I am a little leary of Carter and Hageman just because anytime a player sits for a chunk of the season I am on a "wait and hope" approach to them getting their academics in order. It was the same way I worried about Al Nolen.

So, I wouldn't be shocked to see Carter and Hageman leave the team.
KGM...we'll see.

Now that we have seen RideOrDieChick's thread, we can safely speculate that all African American players will be transfering.

There is no data to support more or less transfers due to a coaching change. There are not a lot of kids willing to give up a year. The numbers are historically low on transfers.

If any player on the team thinks they are good enough to play and haven't or haven't produced when they did, they should ask themselves, did I get the proper coaching and fail, or did I get the coaching and I'm not that good. If either are true, then the coach should be replaced, which they were, or the kid should transfer. Tough to say I'm leaving because my coach was fired when you didn't produce. Most won't say I suck, most will blame the coach, well they're gone.
