Postseason

He's a good coach. Pecknold is a better coach. It is what it is. It doesn't take the best coach in the country to lead Minnesota to a title, though.
Not sure I follow. For some reason it appears that Bob can't get the players to play up to their standards quite often. Is that coaching, or is that the players?

Bob has been overwhelmingly successful since he got here, I really don't know where this narrative comes from. We are sitting at #7 in the PWR in a "down" year - that says something right there.

Yesterday's results are exactly why bracketology articles are a massive waste of time for anyone involved.

Looks like final spot in tournament is between UMass and CC (plus whoever wins conference tournaments in ECAC and the RIT one). Gophs probably to face Omaha but Q still a possibility.

This is true. Almost as much of a waste of time as posting on message boards about likely brackets. And yet here I am...

I know this is just fun speculation but my guess is we end up in Sioux Falls with Denver, Omaha and Michigan Tech.

Projecting on message boards is more fun cuz you can react and update the predictions quickly. It's the once a week articles multiple weeks out that feel like clickbait

Current guess, only one swap (#6 swaps with #7 UMN). Seems fairly easy...

RI1 BC16 MTU8 uw9 Qpac
Mass2 BU15 RIT6 UND10 UM
SF3 DU14 UMass7 UMN11 Omaha
MO4 MSU13 Cornell5 Maine12 WMU

Umass is a host school. I think that means they will play in Springfield. My guess is they swap UMass and RIT from what you have above. I know that means conference rivals playing in the first round in Mass. But I'm not sure how else you do it unless BU goes to SF or MO. Not likely.

Oh, fuck... Well it's gonna be a mess tomorrow then.

Seems like it's going to be a path through Celebrini, but if it's in SF the Gopher fans NEED to show up and make a difference.

You think they are going to send BU to Sioux Falls? I guess they would rather do that than have a conference match- up in 1st round.

I'm fully prepared to be ostracized from this board, but I have very low expectations for the postseason. I fully admit to not being a Motzko fan so perhaps my disdain for him is clouding my judgement, but too me he seldom has the boys ready for a big game and he coaches 'not to lose' rather than to win and that almost always backfires.

Watching the MSU/UM game last night, I found myself being envious of both teams and wishing one of their coaches were at the helm of Gopher hockey.

I'm hoping for the best in this postseason but fully expecting the worst.

This is how i think the brackets will look like.

Maybe. I don't like 3 Western teams in Springfield but it keeps bracket integrity better. Think they still may flip NDak/Mich to Maryland Heights and Maine/Cornell to Springfield but we'll have to see.
One thing I didn't realize is that Maryland Heights only holds 2,500 people. Won't be enough tickets if NDak and Mich go there, so maybe a factor.

Edit: Lucky guess on my part. Think NCAA cares more about travel and fans than they do bracket integrity. With that in mind, surprised they didn't sent RIT to Providence.

The MSU coach over Motzko, sure, but the UM coach has all the talent in the world the last few years and can't get his team to focus consistently.

if you want Nauruto to coach this team, i don't know how to help you. Jury is still out for Nightengale. He's been a head coach for 2 years. The team is good, let's see how it's sustained and what they do in an NCAA tournament

Yeah, I stand corrected on UM. I was thinking how his teams have beaten us two years in a row in big games and then was in the championship game for the third straight year so I was thinking emotionally.

fair enough. they have a ton of talent (I mean look at the recent drafts) and can beat anyone on any given night (and was certainly a reason they were top 5), but he seems to have really undisciplined teams. Nothing wrong with having player led teams, but you're going to run into trouble with 18-24 year olds staying focused/locked in week in and out unless you have a really special group

Agree with this. I would not be surprised to see Michigan win the national title, but I also wouldn't be surprised with a first round exit.

I will be torn this week when they end up playing UND on which team I'd rather win given they're both gross to see win. If they're with Denver or BU, I'd probably say Michigan as that should be a super fun up and down kind of game.

It is worth noting that Bob had a winning record against both of them during the regular season this year.

Yeah, I will be really conflicted about that one. But one thing is certain, if either UM or ND wins the national championship, in St. Paul, I will throw up for a week straight.

UND vs UM would be a dream first round for us to get one out right away. I'd want UM to win, obviously because the hate for UND is unmatched

Michigan vs North Dakota in the Maryland Heights regionals.

That mean Boston U to Sioux Falls.
