Why is everyone on this board beating up on Nelson? I thought he played solid, given the situation. He made some very nice runs, including the long run where his explosive ability on the ground shined. He didn't pass particularly well, but he was on the run the whole game because the OL was a sieve. He rarely seemed to have any time, and what QB does well on the run? Well, actually, Nelson did pretty well on the run. He threw a bunch of passes away, which accounted for a large fraction of his incompletions, and he made some huge throws on the rollout. Overall, I was not impressed at all with the passing game, but I came away thinking Nelson did fine as a QB...
Put it this way - Nelson looked like a frosh Weber, and threw the ball as well or better than Gray did in his time as a Gopher (IMO). I think he found a potential go-to receiver in Maxx, as well.
