Post Game Thread: Hawkeyes Humiliate Gophers

Ask yourself: If you were a highly-touted football prospect, would YOU want to play for a coach who is 1-7 against one of his team's biggest rivals? Would YOU want to play for coach who can't get his team ready to play trophy games? Would YOU want to play for a coach who loses to Bowling Green?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you're just fooling yourself.
If you answered NO to these questions and still think Fleck should be coaching here, I envy your ability to be satisfied with mediocrity.

If you're good enough you're not coming here regardless of the coach. There's no money and no hope to ever win a conference championship.

Cignetti brought the losingest FBS program to the playoffs last year. And has a national contender this year. And they are not loaded with 5 star talent. The possibility is out there.

I wonder how close to the Michigan State game is it going to have to be before this forum gets back to being good sports / adults who can take a bad loss?

I think that's the only thing that keeps MN sports fans going lol
I've stopped watching all the pro sports, never Gopher bball, max about 8 gopher football quarters per year, and I'm still pissed by our sports. Anyone saying this isn't Loserville is an idiot

The games not over yet. I gotta see how bad their backups dominate our starters.

Might be underselling it. This is probably one of the worst games we have seen under Fleck. Just brutal.

Cignetti s coaching style is to go ape shit on the opponent right off the bat—which requires clever game planning, opportunism, aggression and confidence. That is how Kirk plays, too (though it doesn’t always work for him the way it does for Cignetti). In big games, it is like the Gophs have been coached up to not make mistakes, which means they start out with a timid game plan, shy away from opportunities (that carry risk), and play tentatively, without confidence or aggression. You can see it in their eyes and body language.

PJ is a wonderful coach in so many ways, but his style (James Franklin not Curt Cignetti) has a low ceiling in big games. And, Drake is a good kid and QB, but he needs to play behind a dominant OL. To be in games against team's like Iowa, the Gophs need a mobile QB, I believe.

PJ is a great program manager. He’s not a great coach. He’s in the wrong job but then again you don’t get paid six or 7 million to be a general manager.

Ground game is just awful. Whatever they’re doing in the trenches is a disaster.

Bright side for me is I’m not a Vikings fans and my Patriots are on an upward trajectory.

Just remember when some of you knuckleheads talk about how PJ is this and that— the Hawkeyes dropped 31 on us in the first 18 minutes of game time today and we had no fight in any of the three phases of the game. I was live and in person for 84-13 and 55-0 this was as bad as any of those. They not only beat us, but they mocked and ridiculed us all over the field today.

Been outscored 110-20 in three road games.
I can't wait to see the score (well, I can wait as it will be more humbling than this route) of the Oregon game.. THAT will be the worst of the year. Oregon will still be pissed due to their Indiana home loss.

Definitely possible given OR’s team speed. Io has Wetgen but their team is not known for their quickness. The game in Eugene could be worse than today.
