Possible position changes for next season?

When I look at it the wr, I see numbers but little talent beyond McKnight (if Gray is qb). Green is the real x-factor, if he comes back and is good that alleviates alot. My take was based on a coach wanting to have speed and talent to help out a QB likely running for his life. I may be wrong but given the present roster, I still have a feeling Stoudermire ends up on the O side of the ball with a new coach.

I think Allen has a real chance to be good, he just needs to see a ball his way more than once every couple games. I that will change next year when the QB doesn't lock into a single receiver for several games in a row.

True and false. They shouldn't decide to not hire Ken (Navy Coach) because we currently don't have multiple talented backs on the roster, but if he was hired I would expect him to pass more than once every 4-5 plays because that is where the offensive talent (McKnight, Allen) is. We need a system that while it has an identity is based on shades of Gray to capitalize on current talent.

I agree with that, I think the playcalling should be somewhat a relection of your current talent, but not entirely different system.

I agree, you stated that much better than I did. I would assume that OSU has more spread elements in their offense now with Prior than they did with Krenzel (sp), but they are still committed to running the ball first.

Stoudamire to QB

To run Ken M's triple option.

How Big is Edwards? 6'2 215?

He has 4 year starter at FB written all over him (especially if people think he has the toughness to play LB). If the gophers go Triple Option, I think he will definitely end up as the FB.

He played DB not LB defensively in HS....so for everyone looking to move Cooper to SS and assuming Lamonte is a LB...maybe you are looking at the wrong guy.

My rankings of Edwards' most likely positions
1) FB (also some use as a RB...think Thomas Tapeh)
2) SS
3) LB
4) RB

Probably in the minority, but I see Cooper staying at LB. He'll likely put on an additional 5-10lbs by August and continue to compete for an LB position.

He would make a very good FB. It could happen, but if Edwards is as athletic as they say he is, he would much more likely end up at LB than FB. It takes more athleticism to play LB than FB. You typically don't see a guy like that end up at FB. It could be possible if our next coach is Coach Ken though.

I also can't see him ending up at SS. He is the kind of guy who can add more weight than Cooper. This is just from seeing him play a few times in HS, he is roughly the same size as Cooper right now and i'd bet he is like Hageman in you see his size increase rapidly. I'd bet he will be 230 lbs next season and 235-240 lbs by the time he is a RS So. (Cooper is listed at 225 as a RS SO).

Furthermore, the kid is extremely strong. I know he owns a few Woodbury school records in weight lifting (a couple of them are online). I also know it says he played defensive back in HS, but I think gophersports has it wrong. Everytime I saw him play, he was either at LB or DE and every defensive highlight I can find on him on the internet he is playing either on the line (DE) or at LB.

Where I think some of the listings have it confused is that he played a lot more defense when he was younger (and smaller) and he was playing defensive back. When he was a SR, I don't think I ever saw him play d-back, but I only saw him play his SR. season 4 times.

I don't think Cooper is a bad LB and you could certainly be right. I just think he plays a position where we are our deepest and he is the one guy of that group that I think he could make a seamless transition to SS.

Now, if the next coach comes in and thinks Cooper is perfect for LB and he would be less of a player at SS than LB, I have no problem with it (not that it would matter)
