Possible new 2012 additon

Maybe THIS is the punter Kill was talking about, not Maxx Williams?

They probably just wanted to go on a recruiting trip to Australia... that's what I would do. Are coaches allowed to recruit outside the US?

I like that he's a lefty, which throws off punt cover teams...

I'd feel better if I could see him handle a punt cleanly under pressure. Our current punters look great with no pressure, but the first hint they start to choke.

Let's face it this kid can punt - yes w/o pressure but nice leg. I was seriously disappointed with our punting last year. Way too many shanks.

thanks for the youtube highlights. is this serious/legit? or just speculation?

"Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi".

Maybe Eldred will be to Gopher punting what Greg Norman was to Australian golf.

Are you kidding me?? Watch the second video again. For much of the video there were sounds of strange outback creatures trying to eat (or mate with) him. The Big Ten will seem like nothing compared to the pressure he was under during this video.

Mike Chalberg was the last Aussie here. Pretty good FG kicker. Orseske had that " deer in the headlights look" as a freshman and it is still with him. We sit on the Gopher side of the field and my wife likes to see the players reactions after a good play, bad play, etc.
Being 14 rows up we see quite abit. After one particular shank Orseske came off the field and it looked like he was actually crying!!
My wife said: "My gosh, that is something you see in pee-wee football"! Feel bad for the kid, but it is pretty clear he is not a Big Ten kicker. Coach Kill must feel the same way.

Just got back from Oz and watched a bit of AU rules football. Everyone (many, most, quite a few) punts - it is how the ball is passed from player to player. Not only does everyone punt but they do it on the run full speed. What was amazing to me was how accurate they were - almost like a USA QB and receiver. This kid should be able to hit the "coffin corner" on punts Wouldn't that be a treat. I told my wife as we watched that the U should recruit some of these guys. Coach Kill must have picked up my psychic vibrations! :)

Except he wouldn't be as cruel.

Are you sure they are punts? I remember hearing they are drop kicks, where the ball has to hit the ground before it is kicked.

Yup, they were punts

I am pretty sure they were punts. I know almost nothing about AU rules football but I believe that the ball has to touch the ground every 10 meters traveled. Players running with the ball would often times bounce it like a basketball or, if the defense was closing in, drop kick it. Many times however they would just kick it on the fly without the ball touching the ground.

I could be wrong for sure, but if you are just changing possession, I belive it is a normal punt. I thought they drop kicked for their version of a field goal.

for some reason this video makes me laugh really hard!!! Damn would love to see this guy kick for us!!

Sounds like fireworks shootin off!!!
