Apparantly rodney will be...is devoe athletic enough? I don't think Colton or Ralph are good enough. Does nolen have a chance as a defensive specialist. Some think mbwake will be. His he first rounder? Any of the freshmen?

Rodney is the only one with a legit shot, and that's assuming he'd take HUGE strides to even get consideration.

Rodney is a legit first round talent just because the NBA likes to draft based on athletic talent and high ceiling levels. This is not saying Rodney won't earn that draft spot, because I hope to heck he develops into a fine player. Mbakwe has a chance, but I need to see more out of him this season which I actually am sure I will!

While Rodney gets the hype, I think Colton has the next best shot. Can't teach height and he is physical.. I believe I have read on more than one occasion that scouts are keeping an eye on him.

Mbakwe will play in the NBA.
My gut says this is true, but i really want to see Trevor play a year before i'm totally convinced.

And i guess if Les Jepsen can make the league, Colton has a chance. But i highly doubt Colton makes it. Not it today's more athletic NBA.

I think Mbakwe will be one of those guys who bounce from the D-League to the NBA for much of his career. His muscle and leaping ability keep him serviceable for quite some time.

Rodney needs to start showing people (scouts) that he's more than just measurements (6-7, long, athletic, amazing leaper) before he can be considered a legit NBA first rounder. If he lives his college career averaging 5-6 ppg and shooting 30% from 3s, he will fall off the radar, no matter how much raw talent he may possess.

Devoe, too small
Ralph, too soft
Iverson, too slow

Iverson will play in the NBA. You don't have to be dominant to get a shot in the NBA when you're a 7-foot center. Not only does he have great size/strength, but people severely underestimate his post moves. He'll make a team at the very least.

+1

Rodney Williams is the one guy who has a shot, but potential isn't enough - he's gotta translate that potential into significant production sooner rather than later.

LMAO to all you guys saying Colton will make the NBA. Do you guys even follow the draft process or have any idea what kind of talent it takes to make the NBA? I get it, he has size, and he's a "banger". Everyone in the nba has size, and they also have TALENT, something he's clearly lacking. Colton is extremely slow, uncoordinated, has poor footwork, has no vertical, and has bad hands on top of it. NOW, imagine Colton playing against players that are his size or bigger. Christ, Kevin Love dominated out of the post in college, and even he struggles mightily in the low post in the NBA, and he was one of the BEST players in the country.

Rodney - will get a shot if he improves at all. That said if he came out last year he'd have either been a 2nd rounder or not drafted. His lack of basketball skills would've been greatly exposed in pre-draft camps and workouts. Think Ndubi Ebi or whatever his name was.

Trevor - if he can hit a midrange J and develop some post offense he'll get a shot but at 6'7" or 6'8" he'd better be able to produce numbers at the B10 level. He has a great strength/athleticism combo but at his size he'll have to prove he can score, defend and rebound at a high level

Devoe - nope. He's not overly quick for a 2 guard and not quick at all for a PG. If he was 6'5" then yea but he's a 2 in a PGs body but isn't athletic enough to make up for it like a Russel Westbrook type. Maybe if he becomes a dead eye shooter he'll get a shot as a backup combo guard type but I doubt it

Colton - nope. I love him as a college player but he is just too grounded to play in the NBA. He's 7 ft but in the NBA that won't matter since all the 6'9" guys will be able to get to his shot and shoot over him. Now if he plays the way he did in the B10 tourney, hitting mid range Js, scoring in the post from both sides of the lane, etc. He'll get a shot. If he goes back to just being a banger, he won't.

RSIII - no way. Not strong enough, tough enough, or athletic enough to make up for it. Will be a good college player though.

Al - No. Great defender but can't shoot and can't finish in the lane. Excellent athlete and a good college PG but he doesn't have an offensive skill that says NBA

All in all I think Rodney will play in the NBA one day. Trevor hasn't shown he can be dominant at this level so I can't include him

Agree with pretty much everything except i think that Ralph has a better shot than Colton. Ralph at least has the frame, good length, and soft hands. Right now, he's lacking a TON of muscle, and he plays soft on top of it. I would never expect to see Ralph in an NBA jersey, but if he gained 20-30 pounds.....

colten iverson to me is a poor man's Cole Aldrich right now...if he can get to Cole's level he will easily be considered but right now I need to see some more development from him.

Colton and Ralph are starting their junior years, some big guys keep developing a lot into their early twenties. If they really work they may have a shot. I don't think they are either locks or no shots.

One of the things I subscribe to when it comes to NBA prospects is that you have to do 1 thing at an NBA level. Colt has the potential to be able to rebound at an NBA level even though he's grounded because of his strength and length. I don't see anything that RSIII does that I could see realistically being NBA level. His post moves aren't refined (Colt has a better variety) and his one go to move (the hook) won't cut it at the NBA level because he's not strong enough to get position on the block to get it off. A guy can survive being a big man that doesn't play much on the block but just hits 12-15 footers but he needs to also be able to board a bit and be effective on D and I don't see RSIII doing those things. That said I'd obviously love for him to get there and maybe if he ads 20-30 lbs and plays confidently game in and game out that will change but right now I just don't see it.

While watching the game last night (mind you, it was on my computer), I thought Sampson looked thicker. Looked to me that he added 10 lbs or so.

I think this will be an interesting discussion to have as the year progresses. A lot of talk in this thread is about improvements that need to be made. These guys have had a full offseason to make some improvements, and I'm looking forward to seeing if they have.

As far as Colton and Ralph go, I thought Ralph looked a little bigger and stronger yesterday, and he was certainly asserting himself more, especially on the offensive end. That's obviously against a very small team, so we'll see where that takes us. And I thought Colton looked to have made a lot of improvements in his footwork and coordination. Even when he was playing well last year, he still had kind of a plodding aspect to his game; I thought he looked a lot smoother last night, and everything he did seemed much more effortless, which could be a very good thing.

Really, Kevin Love is struggling mightily, huh? Puts up almost nightly double-doubles and is one of the best rebounders in the league, but he can hardly compete in the NBA. And you're selling Colton way short. Obviously he's not even close to being an upper echelon talent. But you describe him like he has absolutely no basketball abilities and gets by only on size. He proved at the end of last year that he does have some abilities, and he looked a lot smoother last night. But if Kevin Love can't make it in the NBA, I guess Colton, or for that matter, anybody, doesn't really have a shot.

Did you read what i wrote? I said he struggles mightily in the low post, as in he has a hard time getting his shot off without getting blocked. I'm the biggest Klove fan, but this is one area of his game that will always be a weak point unless he gets alot more crafty.

Sampson - will play in NBA on size alone, plus his father may have some ties
Mbakwe - If he polishes up his offensive game he will get drafted IMO
Williams - will get drafted on potential alone

Hoffarber/Devoe - it's not as insane as it seems for these guys to play in the NBA, if you can shoot you can play in the NBA, I doubt either will be drafted, but if westbrook is in the d league, Hoffarber and Devoe can play there too, any you never know when you might get signed or called up. Either way. they both could have good professional careers somewhere overseas.
