Looking at the AP quickly.. Big Ten and Big East looking good.

1 in Top 5 and Top 10, 4 in Top 20, 5 in Top 25

2 in Top 5, 4 in Top 10 (!!), 6 in Top 20, 7 in Top 25

You've got five ranked teams in the Big Ten, and that does not include:

  • Indiana who looked like a good team against Kentucky, they are not going to be a pushover.
  • Wisconsin has looked very good.
  • Northwestern on a given night could beat anyone.
 


I'm not too sure I agree with the Sagarin Ratings. He has BYU at #2, SDSU at #4, Wisconsin at #12, and the two most absurd ratings belong to a two loss West Virginia team at #13, and a three loss North Carolina team which comes in at #28, both of which are rated ahead of a Gophers team that already beat each of them this year.

Hopefully this is a case of not having a large enough sample size to really put together an accurate poll.

Just for kicks.. take a look at Pomeroy and the RPI (essentially worthless at this point in time)..
Team - Pomeroy, RPI
Wisconsin - 8, 39
SDSU - 14, 22
BYU - 7, 5
North Carolina - 28, 18
West Virginia - 20, 12
Gophers - 43, 30

@jovs - Certainly agree on WI... but, Indiana is a bad team. They lost to Kentucky by 19. Did look good for a time, but got eaten up when it mattered. The only other decent competition they played this year was against Boston College... again, they lost handily.
 

I Think 20-22 Is Little Too High 4 Gophers

About 30 or so is closer to accurate, I think.
