I do think Collins seemed pretty bad at times but I'm mixed on pulling the plug after one season. As long as he doesn't have the attitude of "my calls are just fine, the players just aren't producing", then I think he should get another chance.

As much as I hate to say this, if he can develop into a solid coordinator, I think he will stick around for awhile instead of jumping ship like others.

I don’t like what he tried to do. Don’t think it’s a good plan for the type of roster Minnesota can assemble

But I don’t think they hire Collins if they’d even consider firing him after one year.
He also has shown the ability to change. Vs Wisconsin they played completely different schematics than they did bs northwestern.

Sure, in the Big Ten they rank 17th in yards per game, 14th in points per game, 12th in passing yards per game, and 18th in rushing yards per game. That last one also means we finished worse than a team that played Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, and Indiana if you wanna talk about tough schedules. I do agree with your take that you can’t just lump all of FBS stats into a big pile because conferences have different levels of competition and styles of play. To me it’s still very concerning when they’re ranking in the 120s-130s in nearly every offensive statistic.

Why did they finish above teams in the B1G standings who had stats higher than they had? And the Gopher just beat the stinking Badger team. They beat MSU. They beat Rutgers. They beat Purdue and they beat Nebraska. They lost to Ohio State, Oregon , Iowa and Northwestern in the conference.

The year was what the year was. But they finished higher in the standings than teams that may have better stats…so in my book, sometimes stats don’t always win games.
