What do you think the actual attendance(if they announce it) will be Monday night.

50,000+
45,000-50,000
40,000-45,000
Less than 40,000

I believe there will be a serious attempt by fans to fill TCF. If the game doesn't go well and the wind is bad the second half could have a few less fans. Heck, a quarter of the Gopher faithful bailed out at half time when we were beating Iowa. Will Viking fans be any better in much much worse weather?

I would be stoked

Tailgating with corned beef and pepperjack on rye.
Good hard liquor drinks.
Friends psyching themselves up with plenty of laughs.
Grilling up the brats.
Outfitted enough to walk with Amundson to the poles.

If the crew of the HMS Terror could survive the Arctic for 3 years, then Minnesotans can last TCF in a blizzard for 3 hours.

The corned beef sounds good but pastrami would be better.

My guess:

Cold weather and snow - Colder at night than in the day
No Farve
No playoff possibility
parking hassles
No booze
Bench seating for a lot of fans
Comforts of inside football missing

Less than 40,000 :(

A lot of the Iowa fans left as well

There would've been.

15,000 no shows at the Dome. I don't look for more than 40,000, especiallythe way the ticket policy is setup.

Should be a good crowd, considering its the last Viking game in Minnesota. Lockout in 2011, move to LA in 2012.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of Bears Fans there.

Bear Down

Sorry, season gophs holder that's been to every game here calling that this could be a fiasco tomorrow night. Shouldn't be, but is just playing out that way. I just don't see how this ends up being good for the University of Minnesota. The field conditions are going to be discussed ad nauseum prior to the game tomorrow by the media, because that's going to be the 'juiciest' story ("could the field cause an injury? STAY TUNED!"). Even though it is no reflection on the Gophers, this will come across as the U of M having a sub-par brand new stadium (i.e. a major screw-up). The crowd is going to be small as well, in my opinion. I am supposed to be going with 3 buddies, and I can tell you right now, the attitude is, "fight traffic to sit in the cold for hours before the game to get decent seats? Then watch a team that is out of playoff contention w/ a 3rd string QB and a bunch of players that CLEARLY don't want to even play the game?"

No one has dared be the negative nancy yet. But I seriously doubt we'll go. The attitude of the players is the final straw in my opinion. The NFL is full of a bunch of prima donnas. No wonder I've lost interest in the Vikings over the years. Who cares?

who wants to sit out in the cold to watch a poor team? And no beer? Did you catch any of the Boise Humanitarian Bowl, warmer weather, field not frozen, about 35 degrees and less than half full, maybe 15000 actual bodies in seats. Although when I was in school we always attended the late Gopher games with Wiscy or Iowa at Memrial Stadium even when snowing and cold. But we learn not to do stupid things like that.

Have they announced a parking plan? I heard on the radio today that they have already had enough season ticket holders say "no thanks" that they are now guaranteeing everyone will get in. That tells me it may not be as full as everyone thought.

Everyone forgets that TCF has heated seats....sit in them for a couple of hours and they heat up real fast. I predict sell out and then some. This is a big game. With one more win the Vikings become bowl eligib - wait....er, wrong team.

But seriously, it will be overflowing. I hope they put up some extra bleachers or at least pack in the standing room.

Does anyone know what the tailgating sure for tomorrow is? I haven't heard.

If the Bank is not PACKED then the Vikings fans are a bunch of PUSSIES!!!

Luckily it is supposed to be around 20 degrees instead of the single digits lately. However snow with an 11 mph wind? Mother nature will have the final say.

The one thing that will last are the images of going to school in this weather for Florida, Texas, and California recruits and what the recruiters from other schools make of it.

Last I saw was around 25 degrees with 4-8 inches of snow. Parking has already been discussed at length but the traffic itself should be interesting/horrible.

Every DI football program in the country that recruits against the Gophers on a regular basis will have a copy of tonight's game to show any recruits who are considering Minnesota.

I have no idea what it will be at TCF, but there would NOT have been 15,000 no shows at the Dome. Not for an MNF game against the Bears, with the 50-year celebration. No-shows would have been minimal. I fear the weather/no guaranteed seats/fears of not getting in at all will keep it from being full at TCF. Even though they have tried to assure folks that they will get in if they show up.

Tribune is reporting if extra seats available near kickoff...U of M students get in free with their student ID...Might help save face on national TV.

I turned my tickets in and will not be going. I really wanted to go to this game and I was pumped to see the Vikes outdoors. But you had to make up your mind and mail your tickets post marked by Saturday. The gates would open at 4 we were told. The earliest I could it make it there would be by 6. It's four hours, one way, with no promise (at the time) of even getting in to see the game. That is why I think a lot of season tickets owners will turn their tickets in. As of Friday and Saturday--there was no guarantee they would get inside, so they went the safest route--which was a refund. Of course AFTER we all sent out tickets in, the Vikes said they were pretty sure all ticket holders would make it into the game. It was the Saturday post mark deadline that literally forced a lot of people to turn in their tickets. I hope it's full tonight.

Attendance/Time
Attendance: 40504 Time:3:04

Only 7 out of 100 people got it right.

Actually Sid pretty well nailed it. On one show(radio/the sports show) he said it would be a sell out(50,805) on the other show he said 30,000. That averages out to 40,403. Missed it by 101. The guy still has it.;)

I think the fact that vikings fans did not fill up TCF Bank Stadium shows that they need a covered stadium to bring the fans in and finally ends the possibility of an open stadium for them.

1. No assured seating
2. Had to begin lining up 3 hours before kickoff to get into the stadium.
3. Meaningless game
4. 3rd string QB (nobody knew Favre was starting until it was too late)
5. No alcohol
6. No secondary market for tickets (Ticket King took this game off their site)
7. Limited parking
8. No tailgating
9. The fact that people were offered a FULL refund for their tickets to a meaningless game a week before Christmas. That's a true Christmas gift!

The preceding facts did not impact the attendence at all, it was just the weather.
