Players vs Coaching

Over the past 5 years the Gophers have averaged about 43rd in recruiting rankings (2020-2024) for high school players and 45th in portal rankings. I’d say PJ and the coaches have actually coached them up more than they’ve held them back.

It’s time to improve recruiting.. I’d say start in the trenches both sides of the ball. If Drake Lindsey stays then I can see some high ranked wrs transferring in.

The gap between 30 and 43 isn't much, and even then it's on paper


with that said, our O line looks like hot garbage on the right side, I think we have two good players, one servicable, and two, god help us

Interesting for comparison

In 2025
Indiana was 49th for HS class and 25th for Transfer Class. Overall 39
Minnesota was for 47th for HS class and 29th for Transfer Class. Overall 43

Currently for 2026 HS class
Indiana is 27th overall
Minnesota is 28th overall

Looking at the age of the players on the field would be the big contrast in difference. I would have guessed that Indiana would have had a higher ranked transfer class.

Iowa had the 57th transfer class in 2025 and 35th overall. Currently 49th overall for 2026
WI had the 14th transfer class in 2025 and 26th overall. Currently 55th overall for 2026
NE had the 13th transfer class in 2025 and 20th overall. Currently 79th overall for 2026

Exactly 7 weeks or 49 days to Signing Day!

I'd agree in maybe a single year no. But years of this has to start to differentiate the talents levels somewhat. Is there a gap between 17 and 30?
