Play Calling

One thing to keep in mind is the coaches probably are trying all kinds of things in practice. We see stuff in games, chances are, they executed it quite well in practice or else they wouldn't have done it. Maybe they have tried a few of the things suggested, the roll outs, whatever, but they suck at doing it in practice for whatever reason.

It's clear they're building up this offense piece by piece after acknowledging they tossed too much at them initially. So there's probably aspects of the offense they wanna do, but this team isn't ready to do. Until everyone gains comfort in the offense, we're probably going to continue to be a tad predictable.

I thought the end-around was an odd call, but it could have worked for the reasons outlined. I don't know if Crawford-Tufts is the right guy to use in that situation. He's a long strider with great open field speed, but a guy like Moulton or Green is probably a better runner in a tight space.

If anything, I blame Limegrover for being too creative in that situation. You got a big horse at QB and an RB with a good burst. Pound it down their throats or do something quick off play-action. The end-around just took too long to develop. But as GophersinIowa said, if it had worked, we'd all be hailing Limegrover's wizardry.

Coaches often try to get cute and make it seem like they're smarter than everyone else, instead of just keeping it simple, stupid. Our coaches are no exception.

A glimmer of the dark side coming out of you. Say it ain't so!!!

I've never once said that any of our coaches or players are above criticism. When it goes off the deep end and has little-to-no basis in reality or previous experience (i.e., 99.9% of your posts) is when it is unwarranted.

There are some things I've disagreed with limegrover on this year.

I thought he was giving gray way to many 7 step drops early in the season. Not getting him on the edge enough. This has gotten much better IMO. I think it took the staff longer to recognize what they had on this roster than it should have. They are doing a better job now.
I hate his redzone formation calling (I actually like his redzone play calling).
