Planting Flags and confrontations

Been a lot of instances of planting flags on a team's logo lately. NC State and Florida were the two I read about yesterday. Multiple confrontations.... Michigan/OSU, Army/UTSA, etc. Needs to stop or have coach put his foot down. Might take a lengthy suspension or pulling a scholly. Even with the personal foul yesterday that left things a little dicey for awhile, PJs kids NEVER do this and I dare say that the one who would try would be gone quickly. Nothing wrong with competition, but represent your school better - or dont have the opportunity to. My rant....
You can bring a flag with your logo to a road game, but don't you dare bring it to midfield if you win. One of the unwritten rules of sport.

1. The flag planting thing is stupid and overdone at this point.
2. It's still not an excuse to start throwing punches.

I agree with the second point. Personally, I like the flag planting, it's part of the nature of rivalry week. If you don't like it, win.

I think it's a bit petty, but understand that a lot of rivalries don't have trophies. Instead the winners just get gloating rights until the next matchup, so I can understand wanting to do something during your celebration that has the same "feel" as hoisting a trophy.

As for the players who started throwing punches or otherwise began altercations, your chance to prevent them from doing this already happened. You played the game, you lost, and now the other team is celebrating. You don't want to watch them plant their flag at center field? Win.

I'm a bit of a curmudgeon, but I wish guys could just go back to the locker room and celebrate with their teammates and coaches. Or do what our guys did and celebrate with the fans.

Then again I'm not the best person to make this judgment as I hate the excessive showboating and trash talking in general that has taken over football.

I think the flag planting thing is hilarious. Play better and show some fight on the field if you don't want it happening on your field.

I agree, I like it. Don't lose and more importantly do be a sore loser.

Flag planting is bush league copycatting for those schools who don't know how to trophy game like Minnesota (all of them)

You will never see the Gophers do the flag planting thing because there's always one of the best trophies in college sports to celebrate with.
