PJ Fleck joined ESPN First Take this morning

I think his greatest legacy is what he does off the playing field - molding young men to be leaders and upright citizens.

He is a positive change agent transforming lives.

A team that rows together is a dangerous united team.

I normally hate Stephen A. but his question is the right one when it comes to Minnesota. Fleck didn't have an answer for it, but I think he does a good job trying to address it.
No offense hello-world, but we have to stop using the word hate. We've gotten so use to saying that word (I included by the way). Starts off easy and then we use it elsewhere when we shouldn't. Fleck did well with this interview. I'm proud to say he is our coach

he did a great job of not really saying much. But that's better than most coaches.

It's more about the look of desperation and exhaustion they all seem to get.

There was a horrid Civil War going on and he did suffer from melancholia, but Abe Lincoln set the land-speed aging record in a mere five years.

This is a myth to me.
Age anyone 8 years between the ages of 40-79 and they’re going to look completely different.

It is a known fact that we are all going to turn into Granny Apple People!

Taking out anything having to do with the actual game, PJF is just a great leader. Not only by what he says, how he handles himself, but also who he surrounds himself with. Even look at the players, Morgan and Bateman are obviously talented football players, but they seem to be even better people. That says a lot. If this guy ever leaves I am going to be devastated for so many reasons.
I'd add Chris Autman-Bell to that list.

I think Fleck did have an answer for it. He's going to control what he can control, and that's ultimately his program. Statistics are what they are. It's up to us, right here right now, to make an impact. His program is putting so many people in a position to do just that.

What exactly were you looking for him to say? We all have a sphere of influence. He acknowledged his is large and he is having a positive impact on it. I'm not sure what you were looking for in his comments.

Fleck was specifically asked about Minnesota's disastrously large achievement gap and whether his players have expressed their experience with it.

He was pretty wildly unprepared for that question, but he did an okay job tap dancing around it.

Anyone that grew up in Minneapolis (Fleck did not, so I was not surprised by his response) is well aware of the statistics that Stephen was referring to, and honestly, Fleck put one of the best examples of overcoming that situation into the NFL this year.

A lot of people credit Tyler Johnson with rescuing North because so many people were trying to get out of that school district before he carried them to a state basketball championship. If he gets that question again then I would point right to Tyler and his commitment to staying engaged with North and building that community. I'm 100% certain that the University of Minnesota has greater ties to Minnesota's minority communities (even though they need to do a better job getting them into the school), and Fleck could easily find talking points for that question.

I wasn't 'looking' for anything. Just acknowledging that he didn't actually say much regarding the issue at hand. But he's a 40 yr old white FB coach so I had no expectations. guys like Kerr and Popovich are the only coaches I've seen really speaking truth about these things

Anyone ever gotten back from a vacation, taken a look at the family photos and asked "who is that fat old guy?" and then realized it was you?

Years ago, we took a family vacation in the Western Pacific. We were looking at pictures of the trip. I was laughing at a fat guy diving off a rock platform into the ocean. Shortly, my daughter said, "That was you Dad!" It wasn't funny after that.

You always think you are skinnier than the other guy until you come to a realization that your eyes fool you as the years went by.

WOW! After he wins a national championship at Minnesota, can we get him to run for President?
Dude, I was going to say something like this in the off topic board, but declined. (Sans the NC. Didn't think of that.)
