...the NBA and has that confidence, Buggs got injured in warm-ups and more here...

Also, didn't get a lot of great quotes from the guys, but we got to see the new locker room, it looked amazing. Shell and Mathieu filled me in on some of the features:
- An "M" on the ceiling with disco lights in it, they play them after a great practice, the players love them.
- Little Dre said that Pitino is just trying to change everything and give them these great amenities, this was all him.
- Safe boxes with locks
- A cooler for their drinks
- Great sound system that's a lot louder
- Big screen TV
- Futuristic sinks
- The shower spa is more opened up
- A barber shop (they are still looking to hire a barber).

Note - these are typed live as he talks, so not verbatim.
• Obviously an encouraging performance, thought we played very well, and we were very professional for 40 minutes. We needed to play well, just because we didn't play very well at our scrimmage and get confidence going. This is different than other teams, when others ask if you're an NBA player they all raise their hands, this team doesn't. Carlos Morris thinks he's an NBA player. We need guys to start getting a little more confidence.
• The crowd was phenomenal. People don't understand how great this job can be, when you get 11K for an exhibition game, that's not normal.
• McNeil has just been getting better, he was the most improved player in the fall. He was very good obviously, he quietly does his job and works. He's not an overly confident kid at all. I tell him all the time that he's worked really really hard, go show it. I started Bakary and Josh, they didn't deserve that. I know what I'm getting from Joey and Elliott. Bakary fouls all the time, so we didn't get much from him.
• We didn't get as many steals as I'd like. This team is suited for that. Not having Nate is hard because of his injury, we don't have a lot of backcourt depth. We need them to go all out until they get a sub.
• McNeil - he's seen an improvement with everything with him, I'm very proud of him.
• Bakary looked good - define good. Ok, he didn't look very good. I knew he'd get in foul trouble, but the sky's the limit for him, he's so big, just when he goes to shake my hand he's huge. Obviously his problem is fouling. I asked him can "you not foul please" and he looked up at the ref like - well, he needs to stop calling fouls.
• Josh Martin took a charge, he stepped up and took a charge. He's got big time potential, he's got such an active body. I don't talk about him enough.
• On if he's asked Josh about his bball/Jesus tattoo - No. Sometimes when you ask them questions you get disappointed with the answers.
• I always thought Carlos Morris was a gamer, he's just one of those guys. My substitution patterns weren't as normal as they were. We need Mo and Nate to get healthy. Buggs got hurt during warmups, Mo could have played tonight.
• Buggs - it's still the knee thing, he re-aggravated his knee from the surgery during warm-ups.
• Will Mason and Walker be able to play in Louisville? I would think so, I hope so.
• We need to get some more swagger and confidence. Those guys believe they are lottery picks.
• McNeil didn't play a whole lot last year, I think he believes he's a good player this year. You can see the difference during practice.
• We stopped pressing with 12-13 minutes to go
• He decided to start Bakary and Josh this morning. Want everybody to be ready.
• On if he wished there was another game before Louisville? No, I'm ready to play. They're sick of playing against each other, they're sick of hearing me. I'm ready to play.
• Bakary has a touch academic schedule, and only got here at 6:20/6:30 today from class, so that's tough.

Thanks GL! Love the comments on the new amenities.

Oh, and we got to meet this Gopher in training...so cute to see all the players fawn over little Elijah! :)

Is this guy getting funnier or what? Always entertaining hearing what Richard has to say. The way he simultaneously praises and rips on his players is something else.

The Martin/Bball/Jesus tattoo thing was hilarious. I laughed for a minute when I read that.

I laughed even harder at this

He looks good in theory. Funny stuff.

It was just as funny up in our section. Just before getting his fifth foul, he tried a dainty little tip-in on the offensive end but failed. I shouted that he needed to put that back with authority because he won't be in there much longer before he fouls out. A second and a half later, he fouls out. Comic timing!

He is honestly hilarious. He's very dry and sarcastic, I don't think that always comes across unless you listen to him. The guy is razor sharp too. A few other things that were funny - Marcus started video taping him, he said one of these times, I'm just going to mess up your video and take a long pause or something. Marcus said he'd keep taping it. Then Pitino made a joke, it's like trying to film his little girl when she does something cute.

I didn't revise that one, it was better - Jack from the Daily said that he played a good game, Pitino corrected him by asking him, then Jack said - yeah, he didn't play a good game.

Agreed. I always look forward to the press conferences and blog posts. Can't say I've ever said that about a coach before.

11,000 showed up for the exhibition game?

Holy shidt!?!? What gives?

Yeah that's impressive. The homecourt advantage this year is going to be great, our fans are very excited about this team. I don't think it's an unrealistic expectation to think this team should go undefeated at home this year.

What's capacity?

Edit: LAzy ass...

About 15,000 per wiki.... wow.. that is truly amazing.

Not sure there were 11,000 fannies in the seats, but I did comment to my seat neighbor that it was a really good crowd for an exhibition game. Was surprised how many people were there.

Side note. ... it's so much more enjoyable to watch a game when the TV timeouts are shortened.

14,625 is official capacity.

It is great to hear that there was a good crowd. I was at the scrimmage and it was pretty sad.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the crowd. I'm sure that plays well with Hurt, and will be an asset when we get other recruits visiting through the year.

What was the attendance for our exhibition games last year? Anywhere to find that?

Couldn't find attendance numbers for the 1st exhibition game last season (Cardinal Stritch) but did see the second one (Concordia Saint Paul) was 4,508.

Pitino on the radio this morning recap

Not word for word, but best I can recall...

On the scrimmage-
Left at 8:30, 20 minutes to stretch and warm up… no talk about how to guard them or match up to certain things. I didn't call any time outs.

I wanted to set the up to fail to see how they responded and show them how important preparation is.

On Carlos-
He’s just a gamer, Austin got shots during the offence, Carlos can make plays whenever he gets the ball

On Andre-
Pitino talked to Hollins this morning... He has a chance to be a 2,000 point scorer, told him it’s on you now to separate yourself go down as one of the best guards to play at Minnesota. He looks health and should have a very good year. He’s a very good jump shooter, doesn't go by people (like squirrel), use strength, attack and get to the line.

I agree. Against Duluth, Andre looked completely healthy. And Morris scored in about a dozen different ways.
