Richard Pitino was talking pretty quickly on his post game interview with Spencer and Mike Grimm, but these are a few bullets that I got:

• Kept it interesting. Shocked that Malik missed those free throws because he always makes those.
• That was just a gutsy win, we knew we couldn't get in foul trouble and we did.
• On Oto - Big time offensive rebound. That's what the team is all about, he said he wanted to play.
• We got some stops, we turned them over 18 times. We knocked down some crucial FT's, Mo was big towards the end.
• On #Gophers fouling: Worst nightmare, I'm thinking "how did we get into this mess?" But we found a way to win.
• On if Rick Pitino can help him prepare for SMU - Unless he makes some trades, I don't know how he can really help.

Thanks GL. This was one of the strangest games I've ever watched. Starting with the announcers having ZERO interest in the game or giving us information about the game, but rather giving constant coaching clinics and on from there.

Great win. Every reason to have this one slip away and they pulled it off. Monster size disadvantage, etc. Impressive to win ugly sometimes. Great job Rich Pit and Co!

The one thing I'll remember from this game is how EVERYTHING went wrong in the 2nd half and we still managed to win. I don't recall that happening under Tubby. This was easily the worst game I've had to watch on TV in terms of refs and announcers. Just really poor all around from those groups.

Kudos to Pitino and the gang for playing the maximum number of games possible for them this season. I think SMU is just dessert for me at this point.

Just everything about this game was so weird. I'm glad Oto got a chance to make final contributions in his career, he definitely played an important role with our lack of big man depth, since King and Mo decided to pile up some fouls.

Amazing that they played most of the second half with a hobbled forward that hasn't played for a couple of months at center. Both Hollins and Mathieu really came up with some big buckets in the second half to keep them in the game.

The national media really doesn't want the Gophers to win this.

On a side note, this is our largest win total in a season dating back to the vacated years

Well said, Gopher Jake. I tried to justify the announcers' apathy combined with hyper-criticism by blaming it on fatigue, but that is NO excuse...they should have done the job they're paid to do. But, hey, we won it anyway. Let's hope we got our ugly game out of the way and saved our great one for Thursday.

I think this is one of those games where they learned how to win. That second half was brutal. Kudos to Oto and Mo for not picking up his 5th foul and HITTING HIS FREE THROWS!

Tomorrow the announcers will be terrible - it wll be SMU this and Larry Brown that.

I get what you're saying, but if we learn how to win like this and continue to win like this, I'm going to file my papers to become a badger fan and marry my sister while stabbing a goddamn polar bear.

Side note... I'm 100% positive I could have coached this FSU team to a win last night, their coach is simply horrific.

The announcers will be even worse tomorrow night praising the media-darlings that are the SMU Mustangs and the coaching legend himself Larry Brown. It's going to be brutal, might watch the game muted.

i was hoping the announcers were going to be better-- i thought Bob's problems were age related and the 2nd game was too much for his mind to keep up with. Only one game, he should be better. Well, he can't be worse.

how bad were they in the first game?

We didn't even need to watch the first game, the announcers kept reminding us about similar the games were and then telling us about the first game.

Also, great effort and heart by Oto. If we win this thing, Oto will definitely have earned his ring (or whatever it is players get for winning the NIT).
