Pitino a salesmen

I love Pitino's swag. He has a nice mix of cocky and confidence mixed into who he is. I was indifferent on this hire, but after watching the press conference, I am jacked up. This guy will sell the young guys no problem. He sold me in a 30 minute press conference. I am excited to see what he does!

I thought it might be interesting to do some digging. Let me know if I missed something.

2012-13 -- 11-9 (18-14) Richard Pitino

The suddenly surgent FIU 2012-13 basketball record might mean nothing, ...but then again. Add that with the press conference and the way Pitino speaks and carries himself, I couldn't help but get a little excited.

After watching the press conference, I was thinking about how it sure was nice that his dad didn't abort him like he did with his half brother.

I'm pro-life and about as conservative as they come, but I hate when people do stupid *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# like Kellyleeks, it doesn't do anything except hurt the cause. The mods should ban him for incessant political posts that don't have to do with anything.

Big fat ditto.

I'm excited about the hire, but not because of the press conference. It's not that hard to 'win the press conference.' Brew did. Kill did, etc. I'm glad he didn't go as over the top as Brew, though 'one of the best jobs in America' 'Best fan base' and 'one of best arena's' etc. certainly register on the baloney barometer.

I love how he handled the presser. I can't help but think of a young CEO to be who learned under some very successful vets running large companies, got his own shot at a floundering small business & turned it around in one year. Now, he's getting his shot at a Fortune 500 outfit. Smart enough to surround himself with people smarter than he is (his words), not being threatened. He seems to understand the importance of recruiting and have the drive/energy to sell, sell, sell - authentic, not that Brewster BS

I am really excited & rooting like crazy for the young man. If this was a business, I'd be buying stock right now.

howeda7, the bolded parts that you put on the baloney barometer are true in my mind. Not baloney barometer level, but porterhouse steak barometer level. While I often make comments about some of the nonsensical things said by GH'ers, the things I am proud of are "best job" "best fan base" and "best arena" comments by Coach, and I am proud to "bleedmaroonandgold".

He's going to need to - and I'm not talking about climate change. Reid may end up being the toughest of the three to keep at home because of his nature and his scholastic stature. He may get out of town for the same reason Andre and Austin got out of their towns - they're confident young men and accomplished students who wanted to see more of the world than their own back yard and could get into any school they pleased.

The U is a great institution, but if you have a chance to go to Harvard or Stanford, whoa! Reid could always get his graduate degrees at Minnesota. :)
