Pirsig and McDonald make Rivals 250

Love how Minnesota has a commit in there when the only schools that already have commits from that list seem to be Alabama, Florida State, Miami, and Ohio State

That's interesting...I thought mcdonald would be a 5.7 type so that certainly exceeded my expectations. The one negative I saw in his videos that I thought might have hindered his ranking was speed. Than again I am not sure how much that plays a factor in the grand scheme of the ranking. Pirsig was a no brainer for me, and may end up playing in the AA game.

Also when you exand the rivals250 to the full map feature so you can see where everyone comes from, it really puts things in perspective on why we are at such a recruiting disadvantage.

JackiO, this is not intented at you, but I have just heard lack of speed brought up with AM before so I'm just commenting in general.

McDonald is not a speed receiver (although he is FAR from slow), his attributes are strong hands, body position and route running. Straight line speed can be an over-rated attribute when discussing certain receivers and I would believe that evaluators who rated Andrea a 250 Watch feel the same way. We aren't going to have AM stretching the field, that will be DCT and to a certain degree, Gardner. There will be 4* possession receivers and 4* burners, and each won't be able to do things the other can. We got a 4* possession receiver who will make the tough catches and convert the 3rd downs, if he had "speed" and "explosiveness" to go with that he would be going to Florida or Alabama.

We got a great talent who will fit a very important role for 4 years. Glad to see Rivals feels the same way.

Have never seen McDonald play, but he appears to be a big, strong kid who can be an extremely effective receiver. Passing games--both at the college and pro levels--seem to be featuring more and more big receivers who can go over the middle and take a hit.

His hands look huge on the videos. he just eats up the ball with his hands.

When run around holding like a loaf of bread, you can just see the size of his hands. He is going to be ery good possesion reciever.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. So basically if he was a little faster we would have had Michael Floyd on our hands, but we are still getting someone like Eric Decker. Although Mcdonald definitely has some wiggle to him so in that regard he is explosive in terms of making plays and guys miss.

If you go onto rivals and search who we've offered for 2012, you'll see many of them have multiple helmet school offers. Either Kill has no idea what he's doing, the info is incorrect, or he's going to be proven vastly underrated as a recruiter.

Surprised only 2 from Minny, I thought the state had a deep class this year?? Also does anyone know when they ranking the 2012 recruits?

Are you talking only 2 commits so far?? Seems like they're getting some very early commits. A very quick Rivals search showed that Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, and Wis. have 0 commits for 2012 so far.

No, I mean only 2 of the 250 kids are from the state of Minnesota, which surprised me.

Just curious, why should they be after him? Do Kill & Co have connections to him?

I dunno. Profile shows interest from NIU, which I assume was forged during the football season. Plus, the kid is from semi-rural Illinois. On the surface, seemed like a guy they may have been in on previously.

Any insight?

Thats what I figured you were thinking but didn't know if there was a further connection, looks like a player.
