per Greder:

Gophers cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun didn't play Saturday, and his reserves Jalen Myrick and Craig James both suffered leg injuries in the 27-0 loss to No. 16 Northwestern.

Boddy-Calhoun injured his right knee in the 27-24 win over Ohio last week and did not make the trip.

Instead, Myrick and James started alongside corner Eric Murray as the Gophers opened the game in the nickel package.

Myrick was limping in the first half, while James reportedly had a left calf injury in the third quarter, according to KFXN-FM.

James, who is also the Gophers' punt returner, didn't field punts late in the game, giving way to KJ Maye.

Go Gophers!!

Sweet, just bring it on. Keep em coming.

The image of lieutenant Dan yelling at the heavens in the midst of a hurricane comes to mind here.

None of this injury news is surprising considering the a amount of time the defense has been on the field this year covering for the lack of O.

Bjorklund went down yesterday, Kill didn't sound really optimistic. Craig James broke a bone in his leg, sounds like he might be done.

Other than the 2nd half yesterday, time of possession has been pretty equal or has favored the Gophers since the TCU game. The Gophers also ran more plays from scrimmage in that time frame as well. There's more to it than just that. Just been a bad start to the year for injuries.

Simple solution, stop them. Stop giving up first downs, get more take aways.

If you want to get off the field, step up.

Wow, sure has. Seems contagious.

Yep. Our 3rd down defense has struggled this year. The offense can do more to help but it isn't solely on them.

No one likes excuses, but sometimes a team can overcome one to a key player, and when an epidemic hits, it's just too much for a program to overcome. OSU was able to plug in two new QBs because they had so many other playmakers and strength on both lines. It will be a miracle if this rash of injuries doesn't derail everyone's hopes for the season.

Did you listen to last week's Press Conference? If not it's worth a listen. Tracy Claeys made it very clear that they are not that interested in take aways. That they are "gifts". Their scheme is based on assuming that very few teams can make 10-12 plays and march down the field and score. If they can "more power to them".

That seems to mean forget about the back 7 jumping a route (like NW did yesterday) or turning and looking for the ball. That may explain Kill and Company's outstanding record when they have the Halftime lead and abysmal record when they don't. Their Offense isn't gonna make many big plays and their Defense won't do any gambling either.

Claeys knows you can create your own gifts. That's why he has the team practice tip drills and stripping the ball, a more conservative way of getting turnovers
Agree with most of what you typed, kills approach is bend don't break. With the exception of the kent state game it seems we are doing a bit too much bending on third downs. Not enough pressure from the front four? And our d linemen are healthy?
