per Marcus:

Pitino addressed his team's mind-set during a 25-minute "heart-to-heart" talk in the football team's meeting room Sunday.

"I sense the 'Here we go again; the Gophers are going to lose in February.' I think that's getting to them a little bit," Pitino said Tuesday. "We just talked about, 'Let's enjoy this journey and stop worrying about the destination.' "

"We were focusing too much on what was ahead rather than what we have right now," Hollins said. "I think it's easy to do that sometimes, especially with media and everybody talking about NCAA tournament, getting in, bad losses and good wins. At times, you can get carried away."

Go Gophers!!

Thanks, Bleed. Good article by Marcus. I expect Austin to really take over the on court leadership of the team. Big time. Mo turns into an absolute beast. Pitino is going to be a great coach. I think e finish strong!

No matter what, I like the direction this program is headed.

Not sure this worked. What do we do before the Indiana game?

I think we're approaching "players only" meeting territory...gotta try all of the cliche's in the book before we figure out that boxing out helps more than special meetings.

I think that "enjoying the journey" should have still have some goals. Maybe one of them could be allowing the other team only two offensive rebounds per possession instead of the customary three or four.

Have you guys ever heard the term, "piling on"?

They had a bad game... This is a process. We were picked to finish what 11th in the Big 10? We thought rebounding would be an issue from day one. The team isn't built to run Pitino's offense/defense yet he's forcing it anyway and has said as much, "we have to, this is our identity" comments during interviews.

DeAndre has been scouted, Malik has been scouted, EE has been scouted, Pitino needs to come up with another spark to the offense and figure out a way to get some stops on defense. "Enjoy the ride" boys, and quit being soo damn Minnesotan ;p

I have a feeling that Gophers will not have a problem beating IU. I watched their game against Michigan. They won just becasue Michigan had a bad night and IU had a very good PG. If Austin shuts down their PG, Gophers can beat them by 20. This is the worst IU team that I have ever seen. They don't have set plays or any kind of game plan.

I love how some of these posts apparently know whats best for the team, far more than pitino knows. Constant redicule, questioning of his decisions, questioning his team speech. These folks will never "enjoy the journey" cause they will be too busy trying to find his faults instead of enjoying his achievements.

Huh? What's going on here? Who knows what's best for the team on this board? Who says they know "far more than Pitino knows"? No one. Last night was a frustrating game, we got killed on the glass, a few pointed that out and that's it. Message boards are meant for discussion, the discussion is less fun when we lose three in a row. Let's beat IU on Saturday night in front of what will hopefully be a rocking crowd and get back on the winning side of things.

Go Gophers!!

Matchups?

Wow I don't believe Austin, our sf, has ever guarded the teams pg from the get go? So we put 5'9" Dre on either 6'7" Sheehy or Robinson, and 6'1" Dre H. on the other? That's who started against Michigan anyway.

Indiana has 3 solid pieces, including a great pg in Yogi. The other in FR Vonleh, and SR Sheehy. They have other talent but it's young and inconsistent. Overall, I like our chances especially at home.

Austin is the best defender in this team and IU's PG in the only player who is very good in that team (I have only seen him once so I can be way off).

Richard can play Mo and EE at the same time if he needs height. Just an opinion, what do I know????

Our team is missing a strong athletic guy bigger than Austin's 6'4" pretty bad and it shows against the more athletic teams. I would love to have a tall lanky defender in Austin on a pg I just don't think we have the roster on the backend to pull it off.
