Last week, it looked like San Diego. This week, it’s looking like Nashville. We’ll know for sure on Sunday, but the Gophers’ bowl projections shifted dramatically since their 31-17 loss to Wisconsin last Saturday.

Leading up to the regular-season finale against the Badgers, five of eight major projections had the Gophers going to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 27. Four picks had them playing Washington State.

But this week, five of eight projections have Minnesota (8-4, 5-4) headed to the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 30. The Southeastern Conference opponents range from Tennessee to Arkansas to Georgia.

Go Gophers!!

Either one sounds good to me.

You won't get 2,000 fans to Nashville. San Diego would bring 6,000 plus from Arizona/ California alumni connection and snowbird's. The was a great crowd at Colorado State. I would say 7-8,000. I talked to the director of the alumni club in Denver and they brought close to 1000 fans to the game.

No you didn't, and no they didn't. I was there and talked to dozens of people. Not one from Denver. Nearly everyone I encountered was from Minnesota.

Stop using facts against ruppert. It's not fair.

Would rather beat an SEC team than a west coast team. We recruit the SEC area and not the west coast. We do need the win! A Georgia win would be terrific. Not many on the team from Tenn or Arkansas.

I went to the Colo St game, it was fun. The alumni tailgate had a bunch of old timer players from the 60s, great stories. But I was also able to plan it months in advance (just like the Ore St game I'm planning on next year). Hard to do bowl games when you need to have vaca time available, a nice bankroll for last minute flight, and the ability to get away from family during Christmastime. If I'm doing to do all that, it needs to be epic, like a Rose Bowl I'll never see in my lifetime LOL

Nashville is a great spot if you're super into country music. Hotels are ridiculously expensive there though. $300+ a night for a nice hotel downtown on a weekend. Flights are around $300. Obviously not a super warm locale in late December.

I'll be driving down to Nashville with my 2 boys if that is the spot.

I was going to make reservations last night using points but they are non-refundable right now (for my program) so I'll have to see what that looks like after the announcement.

I also have a bunch of free car rental days that are set to expire, so I'll probably grab a van or something comfy for the drive down. 12 hours is a surprisingly relaxing drive for me.

Or if you're into Jack White, The Black Keys, The Kills (all 3 transplants, but chose Nashville). Kings of Leon are from Nashville and so is Paramore.

And if these local Nashville guys happen to be playing one of the nights I'm down there, I'll leave my boys in the hotel room alone to go see them.

Billd's will be there if against UGA. I was born in Athens and was first a UGA grad (early 80s) followed by UM (early 90s). Mrs. Billd is a UGA grad too.

Already scheming with some Bulldog friends in Atlanta for them to make the trip too if the match-up happens.

Although we can bark as good as anyone, we'll be donning the Maroon and Gold for this one. Probably have some UGA temp-tatoos on the cheeks though to salute my heritage.

Fingers crossed...

maybe we should recruit the west coast area? seems like we might do alright there if given a chance

Nashville is supposed to be a great guitar town right? Whether it's old school Americana sound, rock or country some of the best musicians live there. I have wanted to go for quite some time.

A lot of traditional country musicians had told Nashville to **** off. There was a controversy about the newly minted Merle Haggard Spirit Award that Sturgill Simpson went on a tyrade about a couple of months ago. It's an interesting read.

But yeah...if you're a music fan of just about any genre, you can find some amazing live acts on Music Row.

God bless Sturgill Simpson.

Yes I did dip sh-t at the tailgate tent. She actually got up and said a few words.

All right....call either Steve or his wife Dorthy at Creative Charters and ask them about the number of people who came down from Denver from the alumni association. Btw...Creative Charters sent two planes of fans.

I'll get on that right after the PJ Fleck to Purdue press conference.

Gfy junior. If it doesn't happen, it's because other teams came into to play ( Oregon, Indiana )
Even Boilermaker guy indicated that it looked like Fleck.

Nashville is a great bowl city I was there we when we beat Alabama. Stayed out in the suburbs- Franklin I think. Relatively cheap motel. Easy in and out. Some traffic(not like 494) . Great people.

Music City Bowl vs Kentucky according to Jerry Palm.

Both ESPN writers have MN in Music City vs. Tennessee. Much more fun matchup than Kentucky. I'm sure MCB will lobby hard to get Tenn for attendance reasons if they're relegated to "having to" choose MN from the B1G. This could still go a lot of ways, though...should be fun to follow today.

This is probably the best matchup that we can hope for.

Possibly, but I'm still hoping there is some way we end up playing Georgia, even if it means Jax.
