per Marcus:

"With him, it's just a confidence thing," senior running back Donnell Kirkwood said. "He was kind of quiet when he first came in. He's still quiet, but he smiles now, he laughs now. On the weekend, he's over there with us cracking jokes. If Berk hadn't made a play yet and he scores, you best believe I'm on the sideline running 80 yards with him."

Early in his first spring practice, though, Edwards seemed overwhelmed while learning to play both slot receiver and running back. The Gophers don't want to limit how they use his speed in the open field.

"With us throwing in new wrinkles at him, it can kind of be challenging for him," starting senior running back David Cobb said. "But he's doing a great job. He's quick and shifty. So us finding different ways to get him the ball is a plus. He's doing a good job learning receiver and switching back to running back, picking up linebackers and trying to run past corners. He's definitely quicker and a lot faster than me."

Go Gophers!!

These young men just ooze "TEAM." The Gophers really have high quality student athletes representing the U. This offense is finally coming of age. These team will surprise. Maybe surprise us fans more than the football world. We are so not used to what Kill has been building. We have heard about lightning in a bottle for two years now. We are about to see it.

He's probably the player I'm most excited to watch tomorrow. We just didn't have anybody like him at RB last year. Two plays he'll definitely be used in IMO, is the jet sweep and that RB screen that was so effective last year for Cobb, but Cobb just didn't have the speed to turn a 20 yard gain into a 50 or 60 yard TD.

I'm excited to see this kid play too.

But no other B10 offers? I'm guessing it's because of his size.

Kill is 1000% right that we missed too many home runs. Cobb just doesn't have that gear.

He did have an offer from Iowa but they pulled it since it took him too long to decide. Also had an offer from Cal but he was one of our most highly rated guys from recruiting services.

I'm convinced that he would have played last year if not for the ankle injury. Just guessing, but he probably had carries of 3,2,1,0,65 (TD) in last year's fall scrimmage. I'll take those numbers everyday.

100% right. The coaches had already decided not to RS him last year before the injury.
