Per Talty:

Midway through a slick commitment video that featured Oregon head coach Dan Lanning explaining how five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord would fit into his program, a familiar octogenarian popped up on screen: Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

The Oregon super booster didn't say anything in the video that announced Offord, the nation's No. 2 cornerback and No. 12 overall prospect, had flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon's 2025 class. But his presence wasn't a coincidence.

"Uncle Phil," as he's known to Oregon players, is doing everything he can to deliver a national title for his beloved Ducks. Getting a must-have 6-foot-1 five-star cornerback out of the state of Alabama and away from Oregon's toughest Big Ten competition was just part of the plan.

"He played a big role, like a huge, big role," Offord told CBS Sports of Phil Knight. "He's actually waiting on me to get up there, he's got a lot of stuff planned for me. He's gonna help me make my shoe."

Go Gophers!!

i guess when you're worth tens of billions and in your 80s, theres only so many things to spend your money on, you don't really give a shit what it costs to win because it doesn't really matter anymore.
And how fulfilling it will be to know that you bought yourself a national championship.

Barstool guy promising big money now Knight doing the same....way for those rich guys to be owners without having to go through all the other hassles that owners have to.

I'm a life long runner and used to run exclusively in Nike shoes. I switched several years ago to another brand due to Phil Knight and the lousy quality of the soles on Nike shoes.

Asics guy?

Oregon better enjoy this until his passing then we find out if they have enough juice in the future tank to keep the train rolling.

Hence why Oregon goes off the cliff after the old man dies.

Has anyone else thought that fans of other Big Ten should stop buying Nike and UA? I’m not knocking those guys for supporting their favorite teams, but sports fans are essentially creating NIL for their direct competitors and Oregon’s winning the arms race because there are no rules/limit. And now Maryland just landed the #1 defender in the 2025 class…

And their sizing is all over the place, heaven forbid you shop online for Nike.

The child labor is enough reason for me not to support Nike.
