The new USC hire makes me laugh, as it forced me to think about individual programs' perceptions of themselves vs. what others actually think of them. In particular, I think about Notre Dame's recent hiring process. Lane Kiffin would not have gone to Notre Dame, and USC would not have hired Brian Kelly. All this in the face of rampant rumors of impending NCAA sanctions.

Translation: USC > Notre Dame.
