Per Shama- Big time athletic donors considering cutting ties

Aka seat donations?

IF they sell out all season tickets.

Seat donations look like ~12M 2016 and ~17M in 2017. Fans in Zone 1 alone donating 2,000,000 a year.

Guess that means that our collective voice as football fans and season ticket holders should be louder than the sum of all other donors the U currently has. So we are all big time! Several posters on here have been hinting at that for a long time, now we know it's true.

Wow! That is a big chunk of change to keep me from ever having season tickets! What are the Vikings charging in their new Taj Mahal?

Yep, good analysis. However, this public campaign is stupid. Not sure if Ames and Nuness talked to Shama. More likely Carter relayed it to him and he ran with it. I don't doubt there's a lot of voices trying to be heard, but these people (minus the idiot from South St. Paul) have been real Gopher boosters. Makes no sense trying to scuttle the two main programs that do have some promise. Claeys and Pitino have a lot to prove but they're who we have and should be backed. The new facilities are going to be built. State your opinion strongly; withhold your money if you feel you must; see who is chosen; then decide what you're going to do. Don't be publicly trying to f*ck things up like a kid trashing his room because he didn't get his way.

So first the Board of Regents starts flexing their muscle stating that they want to review all major contracts and major hires. Now the boosters are getting restless and politicking to have some say in these decisions. This is what happens when there is a leadership vacuum at the top exemplified by taking 6 months searching for a search committee to validate a decision you've already made to hire Beth Goetz. Kaler comes out strongly for her 6 months ago and people would have respected and accepted it. Now it's just more of the same, cover you butt, run it by the board, run it by the boosters, hire a search committee, so if she fails we can all share in the blame and can repeat the process again. I hope she succeeds for the university's sake and for the football program's sake, but you don't hedge your bets this hard if you have confidence in your decision.

Winning opens up the pocket books. If the football team wins nine plus this year, basketball has a breakthrough and hockey gets their seat at the table back, these loons will hop back on the wagon and pretend they never left. Flamboyant scarf dude will pretend he believed in us all along

This is the annual rallying cry of the off-season Gopher fans for how many decades? If you support athletics at the U, it better not be dependent on the number of wins.

If pigs fly.

Lipstick on a flying pig wearing a maroon & gold scarf disguised as an unimpeded decisive leader will look good.

Although we've seen improvements with the current administration, we need more - a Donna Shalala type of leadership.
