Gordie Shaw’s possible return to St. Olaf got me thinking about people close to the program who have posted on Gopherhole. Here is my by no means exhaustive and possibly erroneous list:
• Gordie Shaw- Was on a lot on after being fired. Very hostile towards Brewster. I tihnk he finally got banned.
• Lydon Murtha- Hutchinson O-line who committed to U. and then switched to Nebraska after being taken to see strippers on fficial visit. Allegations were that he enjoyed the strippers a little too much while he claimed to be put off by the poor morals of the visit. Defended himself pretty hard until one of his teammates from Hutchinson started going after him for not playing homecoming but dancing up a strom at the homecoming dance. This squabble actually made the Strib. Ended up playing a little bit in the NFL.
• James Laurinitis’s mom. Was on the Hole justifying son’s switch to tOSU after initially committing to U.
• Scott Stephenson. D-tackle for mason. Transferred to Iowa State and became a center. All Big 12 in 2006. Was a pretty regular poster for a while when he was at Iowa State. Apparently Mason accused him of doing steroids which he strongly denied.

Others?

I don't think I was around for most of those so can't really comment on them.

Kim Royston's dad is a regular.

And don't forget about this guy:

I think Tony Patterson has posted a few times as well (one of my favorite "gets the job done" on the field guys, along with Ryan Keller)

Future Gopher DT Jordan Hinojosa's dad has been here.

Mike Sherels provided great insight for a while here. I think he dropped out when he was hired in an official capacity by the team.

Define "close to the program". Lots of people on here know a guy who has a friend who is close to the program. HAHA. :)

I'm too lazy to look up his name, but an o-lineman's dad from a cpl years ago did, too. He was 400lbs when he came here from Juco in PA if that jars anyone to what his name was. Same juco as the linebacker we got, too.

There was a poster with the moniker "schnoodler" or something like that quit posting shortly after Brewter was fired. From what I remember there were some questions on whether this was Brewster himself. Probably wasn't him but was a big Brewster supporter.

You know for a website like this, I don't think you get that nearly as often as similar website for other schools. In fact, the few people who do post things before it becomes official or is reported, seem to be pretty spot on. I can't think of many times on here someone has said something WILL happen that then did not happen. I'm thinking of players transferring or sitting or the Barker thing, etc.

Jeff Wills.

Yeah, his dad was a great poster and nothing but cordial and polite when people were really blasting his son (for coming in so large and being bad his first season). He didn't seem to be offended and said that Jeff deserved the criticism and would respond well to it, and he did.

There are plenty of posters who are "close" to the program who post here. Most are smart enough to not disclaim who they are. Some are even members of the coaching staff.

I get calls all the time either congratulating me for my takes or suggesting that I should be concerned of retributions of some sort......funny nobody (aside from my son) ever says I should shut up or I'm flat out wrong, I suppose they are too kind!

No, he wasn't/isn't Brewster.

Back then anybody who didn't say that Brewster was a grave robber or selling heroin to 3rd Graders was considered "a big Brewster supporter".

So you've never been married?

This made me think of Wren as the offensive coordinator....

I am married....for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng time.

Some things are assumed. It would be easier to talk about when she thinks I'm right.

If you're wife is anything like every single woman I've ever met, you're right when your opinion completely lines up with hers, in content, form and tone. Even then, you better watch it.

Shut up, and you're flat out wrong!

I just didn't want you son to feel like he was on an island.

Sportsfan24 is correct. There are many current and former players that post. We have been told by many administrators, coaches, opposing team coaches and hundreds of recruits/family's of recruits over the years that they read/post on the board. The overwhelming number don't disclose who they are.

Right on, brother!!

Which made it all the better when Jeff had a very good senior season and went out on a high note making huge blocks on touchdown runs in the season-ending wins over Illinois and Iowa.

Oops. I forgot to add Adam Kelly.

Interesting.

Yep, that awesome. Big Jeff really turned it around and became a good football player dedicating himself, graduating and proving a lot of people wrong. It was also an amazing moment watching flatten Adrian Clayborn (I believe) on the run against Iowa.

No truer words have ever been spoken. I now just ask her "what's my opinion?" and "how do I feel about that dear?"

It is because they get all this expert advice from here without having to pay for it?
