I think I got this correct ... Bo Pelini to Youngstown State. What a big step backward
No it isn't. He WAS unemployed!
Youngstown pays him $150k per year, Nebraska pays him $1.65 mil per year the next 5 or 6 years...so I think Bo will be fine and Youngstown is getting a heck of a ball coach for almost nothing.
Sweet. He gets to chill out in his old stumping ground while collecting his amf checks from Nebbie for a few years.
Is Nebraska going to regret letting him go?
I believe Bo gets paid $150,000/month for the next 4 years until he finds a substantial comparable job, which would then reduce the amount paid by Nebraska. Pretty sure Youngstown State isn't in the "substantial comparable" category.
That explains it. I'd take every penny while relaxing at home too.
This is a brilliant move by Pelini for several reasons. He gets to say relevant in the coaching game and if he turns YSU back into a force in FCS, he will be well positioned for top jobs in including the OSU job when Urban walks away at some point. It seemed like he really did not appreciate many of the things that came with living in Lincoln, so this move will probably increase his quality of life in the short term as well.
Pelini has a good chance to become make YSU a top 3 program in FCS in a hurry due to the amount of talent in Ohio, Western PA, the support Tressel will give him, and his ability to talk higher level talent into playing for him. Pelini might has some success bringing in talent that needs a landing spot after flaming out at the higher levels (Randy Moss, ect)
The other advantage is that he can stick it to Nebraska by forcing them to still pay him most of what is left on his deal without getting bored doing nothing.
For me it would great to see Pelini develop a program that would destroy NDSU every year. If anyone saw the NDSU game on Saturday, Coastal Carolina had them on the ropes in the second half and the officials made some very questionable calls that won the game for NDSU. There was a bad replay call on a Coastal Carolina catch that had been ruled a catch on the field that was overturned without the proper amount of evidence. There was a NDSU touchdown on an outside screen, where the NDSU blocker had both hands clutching the outer jersey of the defender puling him down so he could not contain the play.

There is no reason for Pelini to have to climb a ladder,
He is getting umpty buquet from Nebreska while having fun at Youngstown figuring out how to take a dump and sending NDSU back into reality.
Go Pelini!!!
Don't think too much into this move.
One and done. He will be hired by a Power 5 for 2016.
