Patterson told reporters that Minnesota won’t release a depth chart until Sept. 1, two days before the season opener.

“That tells you how badly they want to win this ballgame,” Patterson said.

So neither will he.

“It’s going to be really hard for me to say very much about people, who’s starting, who’s not, because that’s how they’re handling things,” Patterson said.

Patterson and Minnesota coach Jerry Kill are good friends. This series was scheduled on relatively late notice in part because their close relationship allowed that flexibility. Patterson called Kill “a good man, as good as there is.”

Go Gophers!!

Patterson listed some of the "advantages" we have for this game. I think we'll be hearing about a few more as the game approaches.

is our starters that big a deal?

come on Gary, can't you think of something else to talk about?

i mean christ don't we usually release depth chart like three or four days before anyway??? non starter here.

I wonder who Patterson will start at QB?

Nice try Gary. It is the first game of the season and in addition to Kill trying to fit together all the pieces in less than a months time, I also think he withholds the depth chart to keep the players motivated.

I would just say Coach Patterson has a healthy respect for Jerry Kill and this team and probably understands a lot more than most people what Jerry Kill and this team are capable of. That's why Coach Patterson is such a damn good coach.

I thought Kill didn't know about the series until the presser from Teague :p

Are you saying that the guy who won the big ten coach of the year while finishing 4th and another guy winning the national championship with his backup QB is a guy who gets no respect?

What in the hell are you talking about?

He said he understands more than most people what they're capable of. was he saying every other coach takes him lightly?

If you read the story it was a pretty minor part of things and I doubt he is really all that worried about it anyway. Gives him a nice out with reporters when they ask about Minnesota or his own depth chart heading up to the game.
