Part I: 7th Annual Survey Summary - Demographics

Thank you to all that participated in this year's survey. There were a few first time posters, several junior members (less than fifty posts), and, of course, a lot of longtime veteran members.

There were 108 respondents, which was far short of previous year numbers:

I'm sure someone will say the membership "cooled" on the Survey.

Also, this is the first year that not a single female participated in the survey. In previous years, at least five ladies filled out the questionnaire. (One respondent failed to answer the gender question, and two members did not divulge their age. Adustments for averaging purposes were made.)

Age: Average age of this year's respondents - 40.18 years - sizeable increase over previous years (youngest person is 18 yoa and the eldest is 80 years).
(Previous year averages: 2011 - 36.78; 2010 - 36.14; 2009 - 34.42; 2008 - 34.16; and 2007 - 37.55.

Gender: Males - 107 Female - 0

# of Years as a Golden Gopher fan: 29.39 years (average) Again, an increase over previous years.
2011 - 26.72; 2010 - 25.66; and 2009 - 24.48.

Minnesota Native: Yes - 85 (78.70%) No - 23 (21.30%)
2011: Yes - 143 (79.89%) No - 36 (20.11%)

I was one who missed his chance to reply. Boo me. I've been very busy with work and was out of town all Fri-Mon and didn't realize that it was being tallied already. Sorry that I missed it DL! I think this survey is GREAT!

Thanks again for doing this DL65.

A thing I think would be great to get the word out about this survey and other things here, is for GopherHole to have some kind of e-newsletter they send out every so often. Doesn't have to be everyday or even every week. But when they're doing their donation drive, this survey, or anything else that is not just your normal everyday information, a quick email to all members might get people to participate more. There's probably a lot of people who don't pay that much attention to the thread or don't come on here enough to have seen the survey listed.

Although I've closed the Survey for tabulating purposes (Demographics), you can still fill out the questionnaire and let your voice be heard . . . GopherHole Staff would appreciate the feedback. I'll incorporate your responses in the latter parts of the Survey in an upcoming summary.

I started the Survey on Monday, February 6 and it ran through this morning. GopherHole Admins sent an email to the membership on Wednesday, February 8 saying the Survey was being conducted.

Shoot - out of everyone, I feel the worst for not completing this!!! Not only were women not represented, but I appreciate you doing this so much, I feel horrible. I think I am spending way too much time on the hoops board. Thank you again for doing this, DL!
