This guy so lame, sad, and lonely. Most gopherholers know of his antics. I checked out his facebook page and his pic is a pic of coach Brew with his head down. He friends only gopher players and recruits and updates daily about how cold and terrible Minnesota is.

Anyway, one of our recruits Corey Tindal from Florida responded that he liked Minnesota, which is great because this kid is damn good. He has offers from Maryland, Minn, Florida Intern. more to come.

The fact that grandmas basement, jedi wannabe virgin could even possibly influence a recruit pisses me off he should be banned from social networking, fn clown.

I bet that if anything, he hurts Iowa, not Minnesota. PantherHawk would be enough to scare me away from Iowa.

You have to think that the NCAA will institute some sort of rules related to Facebook, My Space, etc having to do with booster contact (be it positive for your school or negative for a rival). Also, these kind of internet stalkers are absolutely crazy in my book and there is no doubt that PH has some serious mental issues.

I think some cunning Gopher alum stole his only chance at love years ago, his sister Helga. His heart has been broken ever since, he has now devoted his life to hating and obsessing over everything Minnesota related.

What I think is nuts about this is that this guy (or girl i guess) is putting so much effort into bashing Minnesota...for what?

When you get to the bare minimum of it - it's just a game. It's football. The outcome of whoever wins the national championship or the Big Ten doesn't solve world hunger, or the problems in America, or the problems in Greece (like anyone really wants to attempt to solve that problem). Sure I want to see the Gophers win...TODAY. But that doesn't mean I am going to waste my time bashing rival schools on Facebook. And I certainly wouldn't talk about the weather. It's the Midwest, it's cold everywhere. That's what makes it awesome.

Clearly he/she has nothing better to do. Me, I can't wait for football season because it doesn't get any better than football at the U.

+1. One of the more intelligent posts written in the history of the Gopherhole.

He's not even really an Iowa fan. He's just an anti-fan of Minnesota. To have your whole life devoted to being a fan of a team is one thing, but to have your whole life devoted to hating another team is just obsessive and pathetic. If I were a better person, I would pity him.

If I'm not mistaken, the Gophers have, in fact, defeated a Top 10 team since 1999. The Gophers defeated Ohio State in 2000, when the Buckeyes were ranked #6.;)

I'm not sure who's more obsessed, Pantherhawk and his hatred for the Gophers, or GHoler's and their hatred for pantherhawk.

That's easy. We spend only a little time talking about Pantherhawk. Pantherhawk spends all of his time ranting about the Gophers, searching for the few places where he hasn't been banned yet.

This is actually very sad. I always thought he was some kind of legend that didn't actually exist.

Like Gopherdrummer said -- when you get down to it, it's a game. I love the Gophers and I like to see them win and the Hawkeyes lose...but it would never cross my mind spending one iota of my time devoted to trying to deter the Hawkeyes (or the Badgers, etc.) To see this guy devote time daily to this is really sad -- he is probably mentally ill. Not joking.

I actually just wrote a paper on this topic for my sports law seminar. The NCAA considers themselves "technology neutral" and in instances like this they basically want schools to police themselves. NC State successfully threatened a student who started a Facebook group to try and entice John Wall to go there by telling him they would take away his student tickets, disassociate themselves with him, etc. The problem with the NCAA is that the only people they can penalize are the schools themselves because the NCAA doesn't have a contract with boosters. So what school gets punished in this scenario, Iowa?

I agree though, they need to figure this out.

The sad fact about PatherHawk (he posts as ConferenceChamp here) is that he's a completely isolated individual. He fills the void by antagonizing people on the internet. I guess it gives him a sense of purpose. We should feel sorry for him, but why waste the energy.

Punished for what? After reviewing the page, he produces no incentive or inducement to anyone to attend any particular school. He doesn't even directly attempt to dissuade anyone from picking a particular school. Can you even identify him has a booster as specified by NCAA standards? Which school is he aligned with? Panthers? Hawks? MN? Wisconsin? He is at liberty to add anyone as a friend he so chooses. My recommendation would be to stop the hysteria and simply ignore him. Why even tread onto his page? Good luck with the law thing!

Eric Lewis needs to spend more time writing his erotic Harry potter fan fiction.

ACLU speaks up again . Of course those liberals are always correct, so tread lightly when talking around them. Another waste of my tax dollars.

I can't believe people are getting their undies in a bunch over a stupid Facebook page. Did you run home and cry to your parents and go pout in your room too? It's nothing but a schtick obviously. It's probably a group of people that do it for simple pleasure of seeing a bunch of ninnies whine about it...

As for stalking people on Facebook, there are several people who post on this forum who "stalk" recruits and current players and try to be "friends" with them even though they've never met them. Grown men and women in their 30's and 40's (and even older) stalking these youngsters through socail networks is just creepy, but hey, whatever floats your boat....

I'm not sure what is more pathetic....the Facebook page itself or the fact that someone will actually waste their time to contact the NCAA and think they care. I'd love to hear that conversation :cool02:

Artistic!

Well said. Personally, I get peeved when the Hawkeyes beat us 55-0. That stings. Peeweehawk? I don't give a rat's arse.

The punishment would be for contact with a recruit. Anything other than "incidental contact" which would be like running into someone at the grocery store and saying hello is prohibited contact when you are a booster. Again though, the NCAA punishes schools, not boosters. This is a different sort of case. Usually it is a booster of a school contacting their own recruits. Then it makes sense to punish the school for their actions. Here, you couldn't punish Minnesota for the actions of a rival fan.

Can he be identified as a booster? That is more difficult, but there are multiple ways you can be considered a booster. The NCAA even provides a catch-all which basically states anyone involved in "promoting an institution's athletics program" would be a booster. They don't define what "promoting" means, but with his Hawkeye fanaticism I'd have to assume that at some point he has promoted the Hawkeye program.

He may have the liberty to add anybody on Facebook but if he is a booster he should not be contacting recruits, end of story.

And it isn't me bringing the hysteria. I have never seen his page and don't plan on it. I was simply responding to the poster who asked if what he is doing is an NCAA rule violation.

Art, panther hawk is no group. He is the legendary Minnesota hater. Kind of like u.

So you haven't reveiwed the information in question, yet you sit here in judgement as you talk about violations, culpability and punishment? My friend, you have a glorious legal career in front of you------in the public defenders' pool.

+1. He also posts here under a number of other monikers. I'm suspicious that BigGopherFan is PantherHawk also.

Nice try buddy. I'm aware of who Pantherhawk is (probably you). His (your) conduct was copied and pasted in the first post of this thread. That information alone is enough to make a rudimentary analysis.

Perhaps you are just incredibly dense but if you really think that posts on a message board are a good indicator of the zeal with which one pursues their career, then you may want to think again.

I'm surprised you put down your lightsaber and Harry Potter fan fiction long enough to register this account to defend yourself.

He doesn't just post Harry Potter fan fiction, he has written some very obscene stories about the Mummy franchise that are saturated with very sexual content. It appears he has some interest in Brendan Fraser. Also he proudly sports Jean shorts.

I mean seriously

I think its funny that if you don't sip gopher kool-aid on this board that half the people think your pantherhawk (who i hate, too)...just sayin...reminds me of what i learned about "the red scare". If your anti-gopher, your pantherhawk.
