100% was the correct call.

However, if the teams were reversed and it was called on the Gophers costing us the game, we would still be bitching about it too lol.

As a fanbase I feel like we bitch very little in general about the Michigan onside kick offsides call that ultimately cost us that game. It still gets mentioned here and there, but it’s not like we printed T shirts over it and went to Twins games wearing them or anything like that. You know if that happened to the Hawkeyes they’d never shut up about it either.

It was even featured in the NCAA referee video on youtube where they cover such calls. Said it was called correctly, with a note that they should have blown the whistle earlier (also true).

The funniest part of the whole thing is that the actual missed call on that play was what should have been a penalty on Iowa that would have given the Gophers the ball back with a 1st down. If anything, Iowa still getting the ball in good field position to begin with was lucky for them.
