Other than Trevor, who would you say are the other BIG caliber players on the team?

When I first saw EE he immediately reminded me of the big men Dutcher used to bring in on a regular basis, but somewhat more advanced. I don't believe they could red shirt back then or at least never did. Wish he had Jimmy Williams to tutor him. It won't happen this year or probably next, but this kid is a big time talent. You heard it first from howieramone and Bobby Knight.

Moneys get funnelled to AAU programs through vairous means (foundations, alumni donations, etc.) that allow extra looks/time/influence. Tubby does not even look at kids that require this sort of "effort."

Probably because our fan base isn't as rabid as other places and therefore we don't have the boosters willing to "invest" - But there are plenty of coaches in lesser programs that find scorers and gems.

Let's face it, Tubby lucked into Hoffarber, Mbakwe and then got Williams and White in a package deal, but he has completely whiffed on his out of state signings when it comes to finding a scorer/shooter.

Ahanmisi would be playing for Cal-State Bakersfield or Riverside if not for Tubby being the only legit D1 offer he had. Why is Tubby in love with Maverick? Top Gun fan??? I have no answers...meanwhile, we see plenty of talent in mid-majors lighting it up. It can't all come down to lack of cash to buy recruits. At some point, Tubby has to be held accountable for being a poor recruiter of talent.

Sounds like you may have had a rough shift night at the local Super America.

What's a shift night?

Thanks for the SA shot. I had forgotten this part about your posts, Ruppie. Your incessant need to tell everyone about your alleged prosperity, where you're currently vacationing, and taking shots at anonymous posters and the careers you assign them has always been one of your most humorous qualities. Amaze us with your CV, we all admire you so much.

Still bombarding Badger and Hawkeye boards with posts about the greatness of Timmy Brewster? Or did the laughter and mockery eventually drive you away?

I actually think Eliason does have promise. He appears to be much further along in his development then Colton Iverson was at the same age. As far as RS3, here's my question - how long would a coach like Pearl, Izzo or Ryan put up with him? I just can't see RS3 playing for Ryan - unless he cranked up the effort level and became a lot more consistent. Same thing with Izzo.

As tjgopher said above, "Most teams are filled with ordinary players who are Big Ten caliber. It isn't as if every Big Ten team except the Gophers are loaded with future NBA all-stars. You don't have to be a superstar to be "Big Ten Caliber." That's my point, exactly. Other teams get more out of their players than the Gophers do, and that comes down to recruiting and coaching. Recruiting kids who fit your system, and coaching them to play effectively within that system. That's why Ryan and Izzo win every year.

How can people say EE doesn't have basketball awareness?

EE:
1) Keeps the ball high (smart unlike other posts on the team)
2) Doesn't shoot many shots outside of put backs (shows knowledge he knows he's limited right now and does what he can)
3) Plays legit defense (boxes out and uses his size)
4) Hustles (again just shows IQ of knowing whats needed from him)

I'm really happy we have EE for the next 3 years. I think by Jr and Sr year he will be close to averaging a double-double.

It's also not fair at all to compare EE to Andre Hollins or Joe Coleman, saying he should be much better due to a RS year. 7 footers are harder to get ready and what has either of the freshman really done this year? Coleman had a couple good moments in games, but he hasn't been able to shoot or play defense.

It is strange how people who are passionate about basketball can have so many oddly varying views.

Just because he's passionate doesn't mean he's knowledgeable. EE has a very good chance to become an above average Big Ten player. Ridiculous to write him off this early.

Dr. Don, 90% of your posts are ripping GHers and/or ripping predictions. We get it, you don't like either. Your schtick was a lot better when you acted drunk and hit on Nadine.

Thank you, Stan.

?????

Bo Ryan has made a living off of using softer big men with decent outside shots. RSIII would be starting for Bo Ryan right now. Say what you want about RSIII's energy level, but the fact is that he is consistent. He will usually get you about 10 points and 6 rebounds per night, while shooting better than 50% from the floor and 90% from the FT line. Bo Ryan would take that. Tom Izzo would take that. Not sure why you chose to use Pearl as an example, but he probably would take that, too, if he were coaching a team today.

Don't be critical of Tubby. His awesomeness has allowed us to finally win a Big 10 title and make those long runs in the NCAA's. Program recruits itself. Best 3 million a year Joel ever spent. Only bad thing is how hard it is to get a ticket at the Barn these days.

For fun, let's list NBA prospects in the B1G currently playing.

Sullinger will be drafted
Meyers Leonard will be at some point
Buford and Hardaway will be late first round or into the second

Maybe Draymond Green? Maybe Jordan Taylor if he stops sucking.

The B1G isn't exactly stacked with superb players.

Rodney on athleticism alone. Athleticism gets a player drafted.

We'd already established every gopher belongs in the NAIA, so I didn't think it was necessary to bring him up.

Not according to most of our experts here on GH...Most of ours would not even make a JuCo player, ability wise.

p.s. I get bitched at for bitching about the bitchers, but the bitchers keep on bitching about the Gophers Players and Coaches.

It is tough to make sense out of nonsense.

Are you kidding me?! Ralph is too soft for NAIA! He'd be lucky to see the court for 5 minutes each game!
