Orioles Tight End, Will Johnson, Talks About Gopher Offer

I guess Chizik either kept some strong upper midwest high school recruiting ties from coaching Iowa St or he's been reading Gopherhole and wants to personally destroy my hypothesis about SEC schools choosing not to recruit the best players in Minnesota! Ha!

This could be a perfect storm. Kill might be walking into the best class/foundation in Gopher history. Sky's the limit.

Auburn has to be looking at him as a T. I really like his film and how he would fit in as a big TE in Kill's offense, but he is nowhere near fast enough to play a skill position in the SEC. Maybe the U is even looking at him more for the OL?

Good point - I forgot that in SEC conf games touchdowns don't count unless you cross the goal line at 4.5 speed or faster.

Yeah, if I had to guess, I would say that he will end up at T, especially in the SEC. However, Auburn's offense has some elements pretty similar to our own offense. They also utilize a TE that is more or less a blocker (I do agree that they are more athletic than what I would expect out of our TEs), but they do utilize a TE that would primarily be a blocker and red zone threat.

I'm pretty sure that's a mistake, I may be wrong, but I don't think he has an Auburn offer. Chris, any chance you can send him a text?
