Per Marcus:

Mostly new faces will again fill the court when Ben Johnson and his coaching staff watch their first summer practice Monday. But the additions bring more optimism.

Out of the seven newcomers joining the Gophers men's basketball team for 2022-23, Johnson expects all of them to be on campus this summer, including his Minnesota-laden freshman class and high-profile transfer Dawson Garcia.

The only returning starter is sharpshooting forward Jamison Battle, but the Gophers have the depth to potentially make a big jump from last season's last-place conference finish.

"When you finally have 11 solid scholarship guys and a couple of competitive walk-ons, we feel like every day is going to be a battle," Johnson said. "Getting yourself better and getting your teammates better, from that standpoint it should be fun. Some guys are even more versatile than they're thinking about right now, which is great."

Go Gophers!!

we have gone over this ad-nauseum but I found it interesting that Ben stated it like this. Leaves some room in my opinion for an addition later on yet.

the recruiting period for 2024 recruits opened at Midnight Tuesday. The Gophers were calling players at Midnight to try and be the first to contact them.

but stick to your narrative. It's so much fun.
Who were they calling at midnight?

Ben and the Gopers staff have been ine arly on Freitag, and have been very consistent/persistent. In spite of what one poster's opinion is.......

there is a big deal going on this weekend. the MBCA (mn basketball coaches' association) D1 Showcase.

Seeing a lot of tweets about which coaches and schools are there.

according to Ryan James, Ben Johnson has been at all of Freitag's games. other schools noted include Baylor, Oklahoma State and Iowa State. also seen - Greg Gard, Fred Hoiberg, and various assistant coaches from Ohio State and some of the Dakota schools.

Dave Thorson has also been on hand, and according to Marcus Fuller, Parker Fox and Jamison Battle were in attendance to "talk to participants."

Yeah ummmm this is ahhh umm ahhh Ben Johnson ahh just call me back if you wanna.
