This was a big win for the Gophers - a game they really needed. Nebraska was slightly favored on the road but had some momentum as they had played very well in losses to Oklahoma and Michigan and it looked like they were turning the corner.

They really haven't turned the corner. It is almost like they took a page out of the history of the Gophers in the late 60's and early 70's and went from being a championship team to a very mediocre team that may not make a bowl game - again. Like the old Gophers, they keep finding new ways to lose. Beating Nebraska used to be a note-worthy event, one that inspired a rush onto the field or tearing down the goal posts. Now, fans came out of the game with a very "meh" attitude and PJ Fleck's teams have now beaten them 4 of the last 5 seasons.

I think in retrospect Nebraska got complacent and expected to win big just because history showed they went 10-1 or 9-2 every year, had the best weight room and facilities, and got the best recruits every year. Joining the Big Ten did not go as planned - it was probably a huge mistake for the Huskers. I believe they also made a huge mistake firing a few coaches, even though they were fairly successful. The revolving door of coaches is rarely a good idea for building stability and a winning program. Now they very well make another one and hang onto a mediocre coach for TOO long!!

They are NOT a great team and very beatable. They CAN still be a good team, however. Coach Frost should keep his mouth shut and not get into it with other coaches such as Fleck. You come across much the same as Tim Brewster did when he kept mouthing off about Wisconsin Coach Bielema. Their coaches and fans have certainly been humbled but they have to work harder than ever before and really pull together. They have to shake off the loss and get ready for the rest of their season and build for the future. You can go from the best to the worst a lot faster than building a bad team into a championship team, that's for sure!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers should realize the days when they won games before they even started with an awe-struck opposition looking on during warmups are certainly long gone. For the Gophers, it was a fun win, but now it's on to Maryland. If we win, the games get just a little bigger with more on the line each time. The team shouldn't be sky high from such a huge, unexpected upset, either. I think Fleck and the Gophers believed they would win and implemented an excellent game plan. They should get down to Earth and right now, the only thing that matters are the Terrapins.

Let's Go!!!!

Yes.

The Bowling Green game should have taught them that they have to bring their "A" game every week, no matter who the opponent is.
And that goes for the coaches, too. I think they probably thought they could just run it down their throat 60 times and win and the Bowling Green team was completely ready for it. The coaches and players should always remember that game and realize if they take someone too lightly, it can happen again!!! They would not have beaten Nebraska if they hadn't come out with a smart game plan that mixed up the plays. If they come out with that Bowling Green game plan we lose by 3 TD's!!!

Had he punted on 4th & 1 they probably could have.

Ouch!!! That one still hurts!! But --- he learned from it - didn't he?? There have been a few times now since that ill-fated attempt and he didn't take the cheese. Sure -- it MIGHT work -- but if it doesn't you can really be in big trouble!!!

He didn't go for it with 5 left in the 4th against Nebraska -- that could be seen as changing his best?

LOL -- Maybe. There will be a good time to go for it on 4th and 1. You have to weigh in all your options and look at the risk-reward. The Bowling Green 4th and 1 was a disaster. When Nebraska went for it on the goal line and missed they didn't put the Gophers in excellent field position but it did cost them 3 points. That one hurt them a lot and changes the whole rest of the game.
