Yes, he's adding a COVID year for 2020, which didn't count as a year used for anyone. Any player who was a freshman in 2020, then redshirted in 2021, will have eligibility through the 2025 season. That list includes Ersery, Lindenberg, Joyner and Logan-Redding.

And it extended your eligibility clock to six calendar years. Usually it's five.

Basically, 2020 was the same thing as being granted a medical hardship waiver for that year, like if you had a season ending injury early in the year, but you could play as much or as little as you wanted.

And if you're like CrAB, and you really do have a season ending injury in a later year, and you get an actual medical hardship waiver for that year, then your clock goes to 7 years.

In the good old days, you might get bumped on the depth chart by incoming FR.

Now, you can get bumped on the depth chart by incoming FR, grad transfers and portal transfers.

so for a guy who is stuck in the middle, you're getting squeezed from both directions.

you don't have to be a rocket scientist to look at the roster and see what that means for your chances at getting meaningful playing time.

this can be a positive for the program.......IF the coaching staff is bringing in FR and transfers who are better than the players who are leaving.

now, if the coaches are not bringing in better players, then...........................................

The record to date shows we are bringing better players. There are a few cases where we lost guys who were going to play the next year. But there are many examples of incoming transfers who became starters or at least were contributors on two deeps.
