Okay music lovers. At CSU they played a half a dozen songs from the 60's to the 80's

"Shout" being on of them. Sweet Caroline being on of them. Just saying boys. You badmouth my selections, but they're being played at college stadiums across the country.

They also played Who Let the Dogs Out and Whoomp There It Is. What ever your point is is invalid.

I got a good laugh when they showed the "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No!" Animal House scene. Minus the sexual assault scenes I love that movie.

Liked the "take a stand montage", too. Best part was Leidner promptly hitting Maye for 6 right after it played.

They've played both of those at TCF too within the last season, what's your point?

Shout became popular again from the movie Wedding Crashers and Sweet Caroline is a stadium favorite all over the country that started (I think) in Boston.

Their band also played the theme from Game of Thrones, which fits if the game has a lot of injuries, I guess.

Not sure the name of the song, but they also played our "Do the Gopher" and many of the Gopher fans started shaking their bodies. Of course they only played the audio, so we didn't get to see Norwood start the song by saying "C'mon Gopher fans, let's do the Gopher" (Yikes, did I just say that?!)

I was wondering if it was just coincidence, or if they played the song on purpose for us Gopher fans.

Get off my lawn.

HA!

Nothing gets the Students and fans going like those wonderful songs from the 50's and 60's. Maybe they can incorporate a little 'Brandy' and 'Kansas City' into the mix. We certainly would not want our fans to stand for the whole game.

Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) might very well be the finest song ever written. It has a place in my heart, but no place at a college football game.

Ruppert's like a crotchety old bus driver who makes the kids listen to the farm report when the majority of them would prefer to listen to KDWB.

All those in favor of discriminating football music selections say aye.

Brandy was released in 1972 fyi. Greatest one hit wonder ever I might add.

OSU's unofficial school song is Hang On Sloopy. Not what you'd expect as a crowd favorite.

I think the band should do a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young halftime show this week.

...too soon?

they played songs at Hughes Stadium? I was too busy standing in line for beer, water, the bathroom that I missed half the game

It's not the song, it's the tradition that gets people fired up. They've been playing that for decades.

Seems I struck a nerve with the 'Brandy' reference. Perhaps 'Domino' would also be popular.

I was in the Marching Band in the early '90's- and appreciate and respect the time and effort it takes to put together a show and arrange the music. That being said- between the music played in the stadium and some of the halftime shows- it can feel like a time warp. I'm pretty sure either last year or the year before, the Marching Band did a show that was a "#1 Hits from 1973 (or '74)' theme. You could literally see the excitement leaking out of the stadium like air in a balloon. It was amazing.

I know not all selections can be home runs, but someone needs to do a better job picking music for the band and for the stadium in general.
